Good for him! Agree. Best quote from the article: "“I’d never protest during the anthem and I don’t think that’s the time or the venue to do so,” he said. “The game of football has always brought me such a peace [... and] when you bring such a controversy to the stadium, to the field, to the game, it takes away.”

Dak Prescott: National anthem ‘not the time or venue’ for protest

Dak Prescott took an unprecedented, firm stance on protests during the national anthem.

July 27, 2018

OXNARD, Calif. – Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott isn’t bothered by owner Jerry Jones’ firm stance on the national anthem because he doesn’t think the anthem is “the time or the venue” for protest.

He acknowledged that social injustice issues exist in our country, but said it’s time “for action, not just kneeling.” The third-year quarterback’s words, issued Friday after the team’s morning walkthrough in Oxnard, were his strongest yet on the issue that has shrouded the NFL in controversy for the last two years.

With the diluted product that the NFL puts on the field, this is an ingenious ploy to generate eyeballs and advertising revenue; ‘Play Ball!”

Well, I suppose I'd also make Jimmy Jones happy knowing he has to ante up (~140 million) on a new contract next year.

Stick to farming ..............

Farmers often have more common sense than people with higher education and no experience.

I’m the Lucky Man to have both, brother.

42 years of teaching Chem-is-try, Physics, Math, Coaching football, WRESTLING, baseball, academic teams, SAT/ACT preparation, AP Chem and Physics test prep. The list goes on. Air Force Brat

If they don’t know farming as we do, that’s their loss. He’s my group that doesn’t want a President Pence. You’re my other group.

When we swear in President Pence, we should have a National Day of Celebration off of work with our closest friends and family. We need to present this to our kids in the very best ways.

I'm not so sure about a Pence Presidency. He's WAY to religious for my taste.

Looking forward to Dak's future actions. I wouldn't disparage anyone who didn't think it was the time or place for themselves to protest.

But Jerry Jones is being a total dick and missing the point. Forcing someone to stand means nothing and cheapens the whole thing. Are the Cowboys standing for the anthem or just getting paid? What a sad charade.

Irrelevant to you. Do you really think that vocation determines ones intelligence or common sense?

If you are going to stick up for a profession, might be ‘relevant’ to know your experience in stating your position.....Farming usually provides cannon fodder for the NCAA & NFL....

You’ve embraced the old bird, don’t push him away now.......:lamo

That’s because you’re far more of a social liberal than I am. It’s just that social issues aren’t at the top of your list of ISSUES. Pastor Pence will never get his social agenda through. It’s just an election cudgel for GOPs since Reagan.

Infrastructure as the wheel of fortune for every Century should be the end of all ends. If people have never been to your West, they can’t imagine just how spectacular the construction engineering is in ALL Western states.

That Aerial America series on Smithsonian would captivate your daughter and teach her so much of the 50 states. Maybe I’ll bring it to her as the Native Americans always exchanged gifts.

Again, Teaching gave me that ultimate blessing, our NPs, NFS, and NMs. I would literally come in for a landing to start every new school year.

Unfortunately for our Beautiful Nation, the seething hatred I have for what Zinke and Pruitt and company are doing to our environment is unmatched.

You do know that people can know more than just their vocation right? And that some people have had multiple vocations through out their lives? Tell me, what vocation do you have that gives you such insight into the NFL and the national anthem? What vocation do you have that allows you to know about the Presidency? Congress? Or any number of the other things that you talk about every time you post at DP?

I see, you post up to your reputation here. I ask you a legitimate question in response to your post; your reply is that my question is irrelevant; then you turn around and ask me the same question, while deflecting my question. Where was that tactic taught?

Then the poster you that you decided to defend spouts his usual nonsense and you, a multi yer veteran here, decide that you need to distance yourself from his position/s. Better you stay in your comfort zone whatever that is......

I have been here a little more than a year; tell you what, you get any post of mine that you want to talk about and drag it up here and we will dissect it, if you ain’t got the ‘stomach’, please shut up...... Putin gave your boy a ball, it’s in your court......

At the present there are over 8600 to choose from.........

Before I answer your question here: Did you get the point though? The point being that Linc's chosen vocation does not in any way shape or form make what he said right or wrong because his chosen vocation does not encompass everything he knows or thinks. As such your comment to him was irrelevant and imo unwarranted.

Then the poster you that you decided to defend spouts his usual nonsense and you, a multi yer veteran here, decide that you need to distance yourself from his position/s. Better you stay in your comfort zone whatever that is......

Actually I never once defended his position. I defended HIM. As such there was no distancing myself from his position/s needed.

That’s crapola; especially in light of your ten years here. You defend a poster based on what? Their position! Address post #21.
What are the criteria to become cadre here?

I defended a poster based on another poster trying to downplay what they said because that poster thinks that farmers don't know squat. I don't even know what Linc's position is. Never read the thread.

As for "cadre".... :lamo Linc and I butt heads quite often and have both exchanged...shall we say "unpleasantries".

Determines? No. But then he didn't say determine

It sure may be indicative.

Farmers often have more common sense than people with higher education and no experience.

They would tell themselves that, wouldn't they? There's the rub.

If it is the case that the more highly educated, experienced, and intelligent individuals are capable of conducting (and more importantly understanding) a deep analysis of a given issue, then it follows that there are going to be X number of analyses they present that "farmers" (stand-in for laymen)

That's why we see all these posts where people who only understand about 15% of a Supreme Court decision they read (or more likely read an article on) pretend to be just as legitimate if not more legitimate constitutional scholars than SCOTUS or any attorney who happens to comment on the decision. That's why the whole anti-"elitist" thing came about on the right: "[don't let them tell you you're wrong; if you don't understand what they're saying, that's because what they're saying is garbage, and never because you folk just plain don't know what the **** you're talking about]"

And all you have to do to see that it's purely motivated by politics is to look at the subjects in which a layman tries to play professional. It's pretty limited. Law, because of course it affects us all. Environmental science (chemistry, biology, ecology, etc) because it costs money to do things in a way that don't poison everything. Etc.

But you'll never find one of these "common sense" laymen trying to argue on a debate forum about the best way to place a heart stent or the required specific heat of a substance to be used in a rocket's O-rings. There's a reason.

Follow the motive on this one, not the money.

(And in light of other comments, I'm on the same topic as the post I'm replying to)
