I'm very curious as to why this doctor would be targeted.

Doctor who treated former President George H.W. Bush likely targeted, police say

Houston's police chief said Wednesday he believes there is a high probability a cardiologist who treated former President George H.W. Bush was targeted when he was fatally shot riding his bicycle to work last week.

The suspected gunman remains at large.​
 
If he was targeted I doubt it was related to his work with the former President.
 
Surely the first thing investigators did was look at the last few years of patients, and those he refused to take on....

I agree, it doesn't even make sense it would be about former president Bush.

More likely a disgruntled patient or patient's family member.

It could even be a random shooting. It was in the last year I believe an elderly Afro-American male was walking down the sidewalk and some scumbag just pulled up and shot him without even knowing him.

This hit was so bizarre and dumb, it has high emotion written all over it, but I got to go with it being work related. They have a decent pic of the perp, and this is a very high profile case, surely they will figure it out.
 
If I were to guess Id say maybe the Iraqis- former supporters of Saddam Hussein.

I think it an emotional act as well. They were riding along Main St. at approx. 9 am. Although Fannin St. (one block over) is the high traffic street in the Med Center. (light rail, parking garage entrances, etc.) Main St. is still heavily traveled. More like the killer was in despair or spur of the moment and had no concerns for his surroundings at all.

I don't think it was random. The doctor was known to ride his bike on that path. The killer followed him on a bike for two blocks, and killed him with three shots - one to the head.
 
They said he was targeted, they didn't say it was because of the president....Houston police are very good at what they do...let them investigate.

20 years and the best he could come up with, was shooting the Dr. by a busy street at 9 a.m.?
But then again if he sent a text indicating that he was going to commit suicide I guess he didn't care whether or not he was IDed.

Wow that is the motivation I was leaning towards but I thought last three years tops.
 
Dr. Mark Hausknecht alleged killer, Joseph Pappas, committed suicide when confronted by HPD officers approximately 10 a.m. this morning.

No link, breaking news on local Houston news. HPD Police Chief Art Acevedo currently giving news conference.
