U.S. officials charge NRA-linked Russian with acting as Kremlin [W:186]

Re: Russia and the NRA

Why do you think dishonest prosecutors don’t support Mr. Mueller publicly?

I have no idea who the "dishonest prosecutors" are and what their motivations are

Re: Russia and the NRA

I was at the DOJ when Comey was a USA. the guy who evaluated USA offices I know well-Comey got very good reviews. One of his top assistants was a classmate of mine-used to live in Cincinnati and ended up being the president of a local university. He noted Comey was really good. when I was still at DOJ, Comey was the DAG. Great reputation-at least early on. Friends of mine who worked with him at the higher levels of the DOJ-such as one of my college suitemates were very up on him. It started to tarnish when he quit the Bush administration and went from being non-political to political. He was incompetent, IMHO in his last office during the last 15 months or so f the 2016 campaign
Perhaps the skillset that makes a great prosecutor, does not necessarily translate to making a great manager or public relationalist.

That's a standard problem, for most professions.

a most astute point but being the USA or the DAG is mainly being a manager and dealing with the public. In 24 years I can count on one hand the number of cases the US Attorney in a district tried-and it was usually with a far more experienced career trial attorney. The real legal talent at the DOJ are those with the SG

Oh yeah. We've heard this all before. You've done everything and are everything. And yet you continue to display this incredibly myopic uminformed point of view. As if you haven't learned a damn thing from all the history you have supposedly lived through. How can that be?

When all is said and done, I am willing to bet that many within the NRA and GOP will be indicted.

Re: Russia and the NRA

Some of us predicted this, when we saw Citizens United and similar decisions. Now it looks like the predictions are reality.

And the ultimate irony? Citizens United may have now led to stacking the Court to further more like decisions ... :doh

Yeah, the city of Tempe passed a law that forced dark money contributions to be revealed, and the state immediately nullified it. Now we have a citizen led initiative to put the law statewide on the ballot, and the bigwigs are doing everything possible to disqualify it. They stack the deck, they hide the money and we get screwed.

you seem upset that I was merely pointing out my agreement with Chomsky based on what I know. what exactly do you actually take issue with?

Here's another important question: why do so many US citizens own AK-47 rifles? Did Putin tell them to do this? Let's be afraid, very afraid.

a good supreme court might well strike down the unconstitutional Hughes nonsense and we can start owning those again

I don't keep up as well as you. What is the Hughes nonsense? Are AK now forbidden?

in 1986 a bipartisan pro gun bill was going to pass and RWR said he would sign it. a major league gun banner named Hughes of NJ ( upset that the new bill would prevent NJ from hassling gun owners traveling through the Newark Airport with guns or driving through the state with guns) along with the connivance of acting SOTH RANGEL, attached a poison pill to the bill that was later interpreted by the ATF to ban the future sales of machine guns made after May 19, 1986. this caused the price of pre 5/19/86 guns to sky rocket. no legally owned MG had been linked to a violent crime when owned private citizens in decades

I bet Russians are crawling all over those RW gun fests.

you'd lose that bet too but this is yet another reason why we need better control over our borders

bTW didn't all these problems take place when OBAMA ran the department of justice, ICE etc?

Re: Russia and the NRA

I will vote for whomever I believe will do the best job of safeguarding my rights and advancing the laws (or repealing laws) that serve my interests. and right now the Democrat party is far more hostile to my rights than the GOP is. and don't give me this crap that the GOP is anti American and the dems are all patriotic.
I'm not giving you any crap and I even told you I'm not a Democrat nor do I vote straight Democrat. I'm saying if these allegations are true, there's no way you can claim the GOP is safeguarding your rights and not undermining this country and its citizens. As such, you ought to rethink your alliances with both the NRA and the GOP and, again at the bare minimum, be offended as an American.

In your opinion. To pretend that the dems are any better is just plain silly. and they actively work against my -and the interests of millions-interests. I'd suggest you support who you think is best for you and your vision of the USA and not pretend you know what is best for others.

Re: Russia and the NRA

No, in actuality. Look at the accusation. They, in conjunction with other indictments from special counsel, are continuously being shown to have attempted to work with Russia in a way which undermines our elections and government. Illegal secret back channels, utilizing stolen information to win elections, potentially encouraging interference...so many elements of the Republican party right now is basically being alleged to have sold out our country.

It's not an opinion, it's the allegation.

To pretend that the dems are any better is just plain silly.
Then don't vote for a Democrat either. *shrug*

Why do so many Americans think they only have two choices?

I'd suggest you support who you think is best for you and your vision of the USA and not pretend you know what is best for others.
My vision of America is as an independent sovereign nation, where the rights of its citizens to determine their own government is protected, and not one which has been sold out to a traditionally and active hostile government to our country. It's a shame more Americans don't seem concerned about that...

Re: Russia and the NRA

I couldn't care less. its irrelevant.

You think Russian spies trying to infiltrate the NRA is irrelevant! I knew Trump supporters were becoming increasingly anti-American, but I didn't think it had gone that far!

what exactly do Russians spies "infiltrating" the NRA do? what has the NRA done policy or support wise that would change?
