On some level, if he says the Russian's did meddle in the election, then it would give weight to he is an illegitimate President. He isn't going to do that.

That Russia meddled in the election is fact, and is beyond debate. Even most Trumpists don't attempt to dispute that.

They have something on him, and I have zero doubt it has to do with washing hot money for the Russian mob for yeeeears.

This is what I think, as well. I'll be somewhat surprised if it turns out that this isn't the case.

On Politico's website today. Can't make this stuff up.

I'm sorry now that Strzok or Page didn't drop a dime & call WaPo or NYT when the Mueller probe started. If they had it would have ended their careers but they could have saved the country from Trump.

no offence if they did good on them you got a taste of your own medicine ... the US has been meddling in elections around the world for decades and still do to this day

I without a shadow of doubt believe he will be in jail where he belongs some day. It may unfortunately not be during his presidency, but it will surely come after.

It's time we all seriously have the discussion that our President isn't working for the American people.

"Beyond disgraceful, approaching treasonous"

The only words I can think of ...

Which means he is Constitutionally challenged, and we have a derelict Congress.

That meeting left no doubt...he is an illegitimate president and doesn't represent our country or our values.

No offense, but two wrongs don't make a right, they make a right wing. Trump and Pense are too much to wish even upon your enemies.

He's working entirely for himself. That's been clear since he took the oath of office where a number of Russian oligarchs had VIP seats.

I agree and I think that slight to his ego lead to him putting his foot in his mouth. It is being predictable overblown into something else bigger.

I was speechless watching Schumers response. His demands were insane.

Unambiguously siding with Russia over the United States was "foot in mouth," but Schumer positing the theory that Putin holds damaging information over Trump was the thing that made you "speechless." Right. As I already said in another thread, this is not the part of the movie where the hyenas kill Scar.

And there's a fairly simple reason for that: Republicans have known for a very, very long time that Trump is essentially a Russian asset. While today's performance was particularly reprehensible, it didn't reveal new information Republicans didn't already have.

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

“No leaks, all right?,” Ryan said, adding: “This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

“That’s how you know that we’re tight,” Scalise said.

“What’s said in the family stays in the family,” Ryan added.

When initially asked to comment on the exchange, Brendan Buck, a spokesman for Ryan, said: “That never happened,” and Matt Sparks, a spokesman for McCarthy, said: “The idea that McCarthy would assert this is absurd and false.”

After being told that The Post would cite a recording of the exchange, Buck, speaking for the GOP House leadership, said: “This entire year-old exchange was clearly an attempt at humor.

Trump was disgusting today. The saving grace of amusement comes from Dems who ridiculed Romney in 2012 for saying Russia was our biggest threat. Now they all seem to be competing in a Joe McCarthy sound-alike contest.

As deflections go, I give that a one out of ten.

i don't support that. the fact remains that it is indisputable that Russia did this.

We should be careful. He's the legitimate President.

But so was Nixon. And you're right, he doesn't represent our country or our values.

I'm not sure what you think was a deflection. Trump's disgusting performance? Or Dems channeling of Joe McCarthy? Perhaps the latter hits too close to home?

My question is "why all of the concern now? Why is Obama not held accountable? Everything we're talking about happened under his watch.
And why no outrage over America's influencing elections and overturning leadership?
