California Democrats stun Feinstein by endorsing election foe Kevin de León

So they have decided to go further to the left. Go figure. Diane Feinstein, though I think it is time for her to retire, is not the problem.
The party needs to go toward the center to be considered viable once again.

Oh please. Corporate Clinton was so close to the "center" she was almost a Republican. The Dems need a real platform, a philosophy, and a smart plan to move forward. We'll see if they can get it.

Both Feinstein and de León won the primary, and both are running for the seat.

The California senate primary race is way different from FPTP (not sure if better) - all candidates are on the same ballot, and the top two run in the general.

Since it's California, often that means a democrat running against a democrat.

Yeah, I completely forgot about the primary "jungle system," and Winston reminded me of it.

Speaking of the GOP, I see they did not even receive enough primary votes to field a candidate in the California US Senate General Election.

Meanwhile in Texas, Ted is fighting for his political life. :lamo

I don't know where you get your information but every poll has Cruz well ahead of his Democratic opponent often 9-10 pts.

And that rally Trump held in Montana 9-10 days ago supporting the Republican candidate for Senate? The latest poll for Tester is now just +3 dropping 5 points from the previous one.

Same thing happened in N.Dakota. Trump stumped for Cramer and latest polls have him pulling ahead of Heitkamp

Never said that...
I. NEVER. SAID. ALL. REPUBLICANS.

I'm saying that you guys have a problem, and ignoring it isn't going to make it go away, it is getting BIGGER.
Stop it.
Stop it now.
Fix it.
Do something about it.

We'll even help you.

So I take it you feel AntiFA, communists and all the other extreme left kooks are the democrats issue to fix.

OH wait let me guess that's different.

Do you honestly not realize what a partisan hack you are.

I'll say it one last time:

We'll even HELP you.
I was serious. We'll help you any way we can.
We can go back to quarreling like cats and dogs later but this IS a serious problem.

OH yes just what the Republican party needs a liberal partisan hack helping them out. What could go wrong.

Since you already stuffed words in my mouth with your amateur Winchell Mahoney act, what precisely were you expecting me to say?
You're already speaking for me, yes?

AntiFA are special creatures, they're part of the overall anarchist bunch who seem to love acting as parasites on leftie movements.
The biggest problem is, lefties in those movements are generally in denial about the fact that anarchists are not their friends.
I actually HAVE written about this and gone into great detail, and mixed it up with several members here, including Ikari, Mr. Wonka and a few others.
To say that one is "anti-fascist" is one thing, to go and join the brand name "AntiFA" is entirely another because the moment one does that, one has signed up for all kinds of quasi-commie and anarchist stuff which has nothing to do with opposing fascism and everything to do with strengthening a platform which is indeed an extremist one.

Communists? How MANY actual COMMUNISTS do YOU think there really ARE in this country today? Be specific, please.
I do know of ONE DP member who ID's as a Communist, that's about it.
What have Communists been doing in America lately? Again, please be specific.

"Extreme left kooks?" Are you referring to the spoiled brats who won't tolerate free exchange of ideas on college campuses? The so called "social justice warriors"??
This little graphic from me in a very long thread about two months ago again got Mr. Wonka and Ikari and a few others VERY riled up.

SJWcollage1.jpg

They probably still hate me for it.

BUT HEY :D
I wouldn't dream of stopping you in your effort to make this and every other thread ABOUT ME.
By all means please carry on, and be sure to ask AND answer questions FOR me when you do, mmmmkay?

Antifa are anarchists, not leftists.

Unfortunately they nevertheless DO GLOM ONTO leftie events and movements almost exclusively.

1) Too many on the far left won't admit that they are parasites, who by the way often disrobe and disappear and then blend BACK INTO the main leftie crowd after they've done their damage.

2) Too many on the far left seem to think "leaderless movements" (aka like The Rainbow Family) are the way to go, instead of focused leadership and a clear and concise message. That's like hanging signs on your ass that say "WE LOVE being infitrated" and "PLEASE kick our asses".

3) If you go far enough Left, the Horseshoe Theory comes into play, and you encounter failed liberals who have actually given license to their inner fascists, an indicator that you are dealing with a failed liberal to begin with. Hey! This liberalism stuff IS HARD!!

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Top California Democratic Party officials jolted four-term incumbent Sen. Dianne Feinstein with a vote to endorse her November election opponent, fellow Democrat state Sen. Kevin de León.

De León won 65 percent of the 333 ballots cast by members of the party’s executive board at an Oakland hotel Saturday, while 28 percent preferred “no endorsement,” which Feinstein requested last week. Feinstein won only 7 percent of the vote. The threshold for winning an endorsement was 60 percent. https://www.sfchronicle.com/politic...rats-stun-Feinstein-by-endorsing-13076085.php

Democrats need fresh leadership, not more of the "Meet the new boss; same as the old boss."

Here's what Kevin de León told Politico:

His fight, he said, was not about “a gender issue ... it’s not an age issue.’’ Pointing to progressive icons Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, de León said, “it’s about the right values.”

The weekend’s nail-biter over the party’s Senate general election endorsement underscored the depths of the bitter divisions still lingering from the 2016 battles between more progressive backers of Sanders’ presidential bid and the more centrist faction of Hillary Clinton supporters in the nation’s most populous state.

Although the endorsement involved just a small circle of the most activist voters — a 313-member executive committee in a party that represents 7.4 million voters — many Democratic insiders said it carried potentially dangerous implications for the party beyond the state’s borders. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/07/15/feinstein-gets-progressive-smackdown-722204

Democrats have to stand for something, not just be knee-jerk against Trump. Maybe the executive committee's endorsement of
de León should be a heads-up nationwide.

It's freaking CALIFORNIA for God's Sake.

You think they'd elect a white person????

LOL!

The Brown Nation has WON in California.

California is HISTORY.

We'll just have to extend the wall.

OH yes just what the Republican party needs a liberal partisan hack helping them out. What could go wrong.

Spending about five minutes skimming through your posts leaves me with the impression that the two things you love doing most is:

1) Calling liberals "partisan hacks" (apprx 30%)

2) Accusing people you disagree with of having "Trump Derangement Syndrome" (TDS) (apprx 30%)

3) Speaking at length on military hardware, which is not surprising given your current occupation as a soldier.

That last one is quite impressive, and constructive.
You should get the first two checked, looks like you have a problem.
Also, speaking for others by putting words in their mouths, or asking them questions and then answering for them might develop into a bigger problem if you get too much of a taste for it.

Since it's California, often that means a democrat running against a democrat.

California voted for Nixon in all five elections when he was on the national ticket and for Reagan in all four in which he ran.
Whoever thought in those heady days when California was the paradise over the mountains for Americans from 1950 -1970
would become the landing place for Mexicans & Asians. No longer the paradise of the mountains for Americans it's a far better
place for Asians than Asia & for Mexicans than Mexico.

That is why DeLeon has a shot.

Two Democratic legislators in the state, Senate president Kevin de Leon and assembly speaker Anthony Rendon, issued a statement
about the election results: "Today, we woke up feeling like strangers in a foreign land, because yesterday Americans expressed
their views on a pluralistic and democratic society that are clearly inconsistent with the values of the people of California,"
State Sen. Leader Kevin de León and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon said in a joint statement, according to ABC News.

They aren't representing the best interest of the country because of their personal loyalties!
Talk about draining the swamp. How many more are like these guys.

California is now a 62% minority state, joining New Mexico & Hawaii.
I hope DeLeon wins and the rest of the country gets the message.

Very similar to all the hard left posted on her that claim to used to be Republicans.
Anyone who is to one extreme end of the political spectrum that claims that they used to be for the other party I automatically assume they are lying.

Unless we are talking like 25 years ago. The thought that people rapidly do a 180 on their belief system is doubtful.
Who are these people? Give us examples? PM them to me?

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

I, for one, am not stunned.

"Leans GOP" in Texas is not exactly a good place to be right now.
https://realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/senate/tx/texas_senate_cruz_vs_orourke-6310.html

Remember, Cali does not even have a GOP guy on the final ballot.

No, the Republican Party didn't even bother but I seem to notice that there's something like

234,873,294,875,987,598,374,589,734,590,387,598,425,918,231,012,029,873,459,238,592,384,412,093,840,239,875,429,385,932,845,394,529,348,239,478,139,487,625,349,873,958,723,945,876,293,458,673,294,581,230,498,124,098,234,872,094,781,293,483,240,958,723,948,103,497,823,954,876,230,498,124,098,213,548,723,958,629,458,724,985,632,945,863,249,586,345,098,723,045,971,239,548,671,293,548,129,348,612,390,487,250,349,872,035,982,039,587,204,895,723,984,519,283,468,172,429,038,528,475,928,375,293,857,298,532,045,928,354,928,764,198,623,092,398,567,329,478,612,384,712,837,514,823,742,875,298,572,837,642,897,462,837,505,982,345,834

people on internet forums all over the country who do not LIVE IN California but have decided that they are self styled and self appointed experts on the place, and know what's best.
Not only that but they've been giving Jim Bakker and other TV doomsayers a real run for their money predicting all manner of dire consequences if we do not wake up and see the light, rather...the elephant shaped bat signal, in the sky.

Democrats fighting with Democrats.
Go for the entirely socialist agenda kids.
I just KNOW the American public will simply eat it up.

my biggest issue with Dems is their seemingly hard on to grab guns

I'm VERY pro 2nd A

Dems need to figure out that gun grabbing is NOT gonna solve gun crime, period

If the Dems would just, "step away from the 2nd A" I could get on board with them much more easily ...........

DeLeon is stunningly moronic. He's actually worse then DIFI on guns. Anyone this stupid shouldn't be in office

He's right about one thing, being 100% the anti-Trump party will only carry the Democrats so far. They indeed need to stand for something. But moving further left may be the ideal movement in places like California, the west coast and the northeast, but it isn't in the heart of the country. Call that middle America whom have been deserting the two major parties since 2006 in droves.

In 2006 only 30% of the total electorate identified themselves as independents, the rest with the two major parties. in 2014, independents had grown to 40% and if Gallup is right, independents today now make up 45% of the electorate. But in a two party system, that probably doesn't matter. The choices boil down to the extreme, ultra, right candidates vs. the extreme, ultra left candidates.

But we aren't middle America, we're California. What works here for Democrats doesn't work elsewhere.
No one says it does, or would.
But one thing we DO know isn't working, trying to appease Republicans and Republican voters by being "Republican-Lite".
Let the Republicans serve up Republican-Lite candidates, the Democratic Party is supposed to cater to liberals.
We are the liberal party.
