Americans rank Barack Obama as best president of their lifetimes: Poll

Since I can remember I have been voting based on the pretense of the lesser of two evils. Not a very impressive bunch. I have no idea why people praise the puppets.

Your posts and Trump's election are the perfect evidence of that.

That we've had to dumb it down for all you dimwits? yes, yes it has...

Americans rank Barack Obama as best president of their lifetimes: Poll

A new Pew Research Center poll says more Americans rank former President Barack Obama higher than any other when asked which president has done the best job in their lifetimes.

Obama was named the best or second best president by 44 percent of Americans in the survey that came out Wednesday. Thirty-one percent ranked him as the best president in their lifetimes.

President Donald Trump comes in fourth after President Bill Clinton and President Ronald Reagan, with 19 percent of Americans ranking him as the best or second best in their lifetimes.

While 19 percent might seem low, 20 percent of Americans ranked Obama as the best or second best president in 2011, at a similar point in his first term and the last time Pew conducted this poll.

COMMENT:-

Naturally, since the pollsters didn't ask every single American (especially you) what there opinion was the results are completely invalid.

Right?

PS - An interesting analysis of the data has suggested that the increase in Mr. Trump's popularity amongst Republicans could potentially be due to the fact that Republicans who formerly supported Mr. Trump and who no longer do so are not "self-identifying" as Republicans right now.

How that would work is:

  1. Assume that there are 200 people 50% of whom "self-identify" as "X" and of those 100 60 support "Y". That means that "Y" has the support of 60% of those who "self-identify" as "X".
  2. Now assume that there are 200 people 40% of whom "self-identify" as "X" and of those 80 60 support "Y". That means that "Y" has the support of 75% of those who "self-identify" as "X".
  3. That means that the support for "Y" amongst those who "self-identify" as "X" has increased - even though there has been no actual change in the support for "Y" when you consider the entire 200 people.

In other articles Mr. Trump is loudly proclaiming that his support amongst Republicans is the highest that any President has ever had (aside from the fact that that simply isn't true) the question is "Is Mr. Trump merely the same sized frog in a smaller pond?".

PPS - The linked poll has some reasonably interesting demographic breakdowns of the data for those who are interested in doing more than skimming the surface.

Well, if you were born in 1992 or later, this may well be true.

What a sad commentary on the men we have put in the White House the last 25 years.

Having lived through presidents starting from Eisenhower, I've seen some good ones. Obama would be at the top or very close to it. Carter would be up there, too. If there's a space below the bottom, that's where the current idiot belongs. The stupids won in 2016. Let's hope we've learned a lesson.

What would you say made Carter a good President?

He dealt with what he had. There is no doubt he wanted what was good for America. He just wasn't manly enough for a right wing that wanted an assertive representative for America's silent majority. Carter believed in works, and the economy just didn't lend itself to that.

The man spent the next 40 years after his presidency working to make America great. He didn't do it with cameras rolling. He did it with regular folks building homes for the underprivileged. He did it regardless of race or the ethnicity of those people. Then he advocated for Palestinian rights with millions of radical evangelicals calling him the dirtiest names.

I'd say Carter was a good president in that he embraced the responsibility that came with being president long after he was no longer in the role. He wasn't effective, but he wasn't the moronically racist trainwreck we currently have.

Ask yourself, would you hire a guy with Carter's resume?

Interesting. .....I rank President Obama as the worst of my life time by far.....

Jimmy Carter.
Though he was at least more honest than Obama.
Obama was not a good man or a good president. Carter was a lousy president but a good man.

eta: Clinton was a good president but a bad man, but of course, all of the above is just my opinion.

History has treated carter kindly.

Yes, he was one of the worst Presidents ever. Did a horrible job. But, I think Obama passed him as the worst President. And I don't mean that he couldn't get things done. It's just that what he was getting done was a plan to 'fundamentally" change our country. Thank God that eight years isn't enough to destroy the Constitution and move us to socialism, past the point of no return. That was Hillary's job. She was to deliver the knockout blow to us and the Constitution.

Barack Obama accomplished a lot of things during his presidency. He inherited a mess from that bozo Bush. But the most amazing thing he did, was to get elected in the first place. That in itself is the single reason people on the right hated him, not for anything else, that's all just noisy excuses for hating seeing a black man in the White House.

That's just :bs. and it says way more about YOU than it does people from the right.

I nominate for the worst post ever. Racist, too.

Carter was one of the best. Worst is without a doubt george w bush. Created two recessions, passed the patriot act, no child left behind, bushcare, turned a surplus into a trillion dollar deficit, let terrorists kill 3000 americans and refused to look for the guy responsible, did nothing during katrina, lost two wars, collapsed the housing market, bailed out aig, raised gas prices to $4/gallon. Trump as bad as he is probably won't surpass bush as the worst but he is trying his hardest.

you must have been born after 08 then because you don't remember how bad bush was.

Carter is well known as one of the worst ever, so no reason to argue that point. Bush, middle of the road, though great at handling 9/11. I shudder to think how we would have crawled up in a ball if Gore was in there, and admitted that we deserved it.

Trump is doing a much, much better job than I ever dreamed he would do. Especially with the Obama garbage that he has to clean up, no help from Republicans, and the unprecedented, disgusting, anti-American attacks from the left, including the media.

Bush is the worst. Undeniable fact. His handling of 9-11 was piss poor. First of all he let it happen and then didn't kill the guy who did it.

If this is true, they must have polled very young people.

They must have polled very young people or MORONS. Commonly known as liberal loons, who have been brainwashed by the lamestream media. Obama was a buffoon and a liar. He was, however, groomed and mentored by the devil incarnate himself, George Soros. Georgie made SURE Barry's lies were never proven to be untruths. Barry was NOT born in the U.S., he is a gay man, married to a tranny. His two "daughters" are NOT his, at least not biologically. Soros made sure these things were never brought to light. Barry Obama was, and is, very anti-American. He accomplished absolutely NOTHING positive as president and actually made race relations and some people's attitude towards the police WORSE. Barack Obama will eventually go down as one of our worst presidents ever. I know he's the worst in MY lifetime and I was born in 1961.

Obama at this time was dealing with two wars and a brutal economy. Trump has been given the best situation if any modern President other than George W. The fact he’s polling around where Obama was says a lot.

Seeing as he's been weather nothing but personal attacks from the media, and other politicians all this time. Does say a lot.

So, tell us why in your mind the once married Obama wasn’t a good man while three time married, serial cheater Trump is.

Who cares about how many times a president has been married?

The correct statement would be: The cons don't like it.

and how did they feel about the GOP's plan?

So the cons aren't people?

The new left should keep it's genocidal objectives a bit more under wraps.

Deluding themselves into believing people hate Obamacare is what (1) led the GOP to waste most of a year on awful health legislation that struggled to get double digit support from the public and died on the vine, and (2) lost the GOP the House in a landslide.

Not as simple as that.

However, there was absolutely no excuse not to pass something in the House after spending years talking about it and making one move after another.

Boehner and Ryan will go down in American History as the worst Speakers of the House likely in US History.

and then, and then......ahahahahaha, and then we blew smoke up their ass and told them their backs were on fire!!!!!!!! AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
