when you are in retail you do NOT take it upon yourself as an employee to apprehend the bad guy in some type of robbery/theft scenario

that is a great way to get your ass fired; oops ...............

A lot of businesses forbid their staff to engage shoplifters for fear of being sued by the shoplifter should he/she get injured in the "scuffle". Home Depot had fired an employee who engaged a shoplifter, and they were not the only company who fired staff in similar cases.

It's sad, but it seems that criminals have better lawyers ...

The store should close for a day to train their employees like Starbucks did.From now on offer to help the thief load the stolen goods into their car.

The manager of Tallahassee’s Academy Sports was fired Tuesday after tackling a suspect accused of stealing a handgun late last month. The suspect also allegedly threatened to shoot people.

And, it appears the individual posted bond and was released back into the public;

Stupidity is a legitimate grounds for firing someone in every job I know of

Stealing golf balls? That's one thing. Stealing a gun? A GUN?? That certainly warrants tackling the thief.

Can you get any more pussified than this?

The store manager was exercising gun control and was fired for it.
