For Putin, Helsinki talks with Trump a win before he even sits down

MOSCOW (Reuters) - For U.S. President Donald Trump, a summit with Vladimir Putin risks a political backlash at home and abroad. For the Russian president, however, the fact the summit is even happening is already a big geopolitical win.

Despite Russia’s semi-pariah status among some Americans and U.S. allies, the Kremlin has long been trying to arrange a summit, betting that Putin and Trump will get on well and stop a sharp downwards spiral in bilateral ties.

While nobody on either side expects big breakthroughs, including on U.S. sanctions, the summit is seen by Moscow as U.S. recognition of Russia’s status as a great power and an overdue U.S. realization that its interests must be taken into account.

Putin is laughing his donkey off as Trump does his best to destroy our strategic relationships with NATO. Trump is obviously doing Putin's bidding by doing so. Trump is a traitor to his country & should be impeached. The do-nothing Republican congress will, of course, continue to do nothing.

Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about any "political backlash at home". He'll do what's right by American no matter what nonsense the Trump haters spin out of it.

Frankly, I don't understand that article because the same thing happened under Obama when Hillary tried to pawn off that misspelled red button.

Why do you just ape things you hear on TV? Explain to me how Trump badgering our allies to pay more for their own defense -- against Russia--is doing Putins bidding? Explain how Trump calling out Germany for its pipeline to Russia is doing Putins bidding? It seems that one of the symptoms of TDS is a loss of critical thinking. Stop just swallowing what you hear and apply a little thought of your own.
