The US has ramped up its trade war with China, listing $200bn (£150bn) worth of additional products it plans to place tariffs on as soon as September.

The move comes just days after the two countries imposed tit-for-tat tariffs of $34bn on each other's goods.
===========================================
The list includes agricultural products, minerals and consumer goods such as handbags.

'The White House says the tariffs are a response to unfair trade practices by China.'

What could possibly go wrong?

Good.

Since the republicans in congress refuse to do anything about Trump, I look forward to watching corporate america take him down

And when it works?

Yes. I am scared.

The GOP has piled on debt during a strong economy, leaving them nothing to get creative with if Trump's trade wars cause too much damage.

There are a lot of jobs available now, but this could quickly change since Trump is making prices go up and decreasing our buying power. Less buying power = less demand = layoffs ... to go with the companies who will be moving operations out of the country to try to get out from under the tariffs.

I hoped people would see the light about Trump without me personally taking too big of a hit financially, but that's not turning out to be the case. I have to tell myself I'm okay taking one for the team. But I'm not okay. I don't have that much discretionary income. I am scared of having to tighten my belt further.

Trump is an idiot, and every member of his staff who helped him do this is also an idiot.

when you have a low bar minimum of a jackass TV reality show personality as POTUS that has not a shraed of political/governance experience, then you have a recipe for a cluster**** of unimaginable cluster****age ............... good luck 'Merca ...........

I am betting that China need us much more than we need them....

The end game is up to China.

We'll see who squeals first.

Trump is an idiot, and every member of his staff who helped him do this is also an idiot.

every member of Trump's staff, every voter that voted for Trump, anyone that supports Trump = enablers

how well did that work out for Hitler's Germany?

not gonna ..............

Pretty much!
Luckily Ivanka's trash didn't get caught up in the tariff war.
I'm sure it's a coincidence.

China does next to nothing about intellectual property violations and constantly steals our military tech info....they deserve being slammed with tariffs.

Message: “We need you to quit using NoKo as a pawn against the USA”. China is kidding no one.

And when it works?

Works for who? Most Americans are harmed by a trade war, and benefit nothing, even if the US "wins".

I disagree. I think the message is: "You are wasting your time using NoKo as a pawn."

You would be very wrong. Just as trump is we are a fraction of the world economy, and just like the Iranian deal the rest of world can move on without us.

Definitely not a coincidence.

Although I realize you were sarcastic.

Damme, can't anyone shut that guy up? He's been whining about being treated unfairly since he entered the primary race. Has there ever been such a fragile, whimpering candy-ass in such a position of power before? Some dissolute, lead-poisoned Roman emperor, maybe, but nobody since. Sure as God made little green apples we're gonna hear some more about being treated unfairly by NATO. That crybaby is gonna feel like he's found a safe-place sanctuary when he's in a room with Putin.

Maybe so, but do the American people deserve the consequences of slamming China with tariffs?

So's Trump. You're both about to lose some money.

But the person who has taken it upon himself to make up these rules of war as he goes, is someone who doesn't even know that Canada has a trade surplus with is. Or doesn't care. He's using made up "facts" to justify his trade war against our allies as well as China.

There's no exit strategy for Trump's war. No way to measure success. Just Trump firing off salvo after salvo in a chaotic way with made up data to guide his trade missiles.

What is Trump's goal?

How much pain is he willing to inflict on Americans before he declares victory?

There is no way to know. And no reason to trust that Trump will make sound decisions.

Thank you, Mr. President. China has parasitized the U.S. long enough.

Put the screws to them.

Maybe so, but do the American people deserve the consequences of slamming China with tariffs?

And what do you think Trump should do to stop it? Ask them nicely to stop?

Heheh! Yeh, right.
When you're dealing with China economically you can do it the easy way or you can do it the hard way. Both are the same to China, you just decide how it's gonna go for you.
