91-year-old man beaten with brick, told 'go back to Mexico'

Again, no mention of the alleged race of any of the attackers, although we already have a Forum member claiming they must be "Trumpist" xenophobes. This despite the fact, according to the victim, the men thought he was trying to abduct a child. We don't know why the woman acted as she did initially, we are informed she told the men were he was abducting her child, and the allegation is the attack occurred because the woman thought he was an illegal immigrant.

While this incident is bad, and the gentleman seems to have been an innocent victim...I would like to see more evidence of the incident before committing to a blanket "hate crime" scenario.

BTW, who was videoing him without helping him up? That seems fairly insensitive to me.

As was pointed out earlier in the thread, it should have been pretty clear from the fact race was not brought up in the article that it was highly unlikely it was a white woman.

No race means the attackers weren't white. A quick demographics of Willowbrook indicate 64% Hispanic and 34% black - there are basically no whites in Willowbrook. Since "Go back to Mexico" is unlikely to be uttered by Hispanics, this leaves black as the most likely race of the attacker.

The media will try to pawn this off on whites, just like they tried to make Zimmerman white.

Inasmuch as I do not care for trump, I place the blame where it belongs...squarely on those that carried out the attack.

Sadly, it appears that in todays society, we are quick to ignore personal responsibility and accountability.

We as adults still have freedom to chose; we can chose to act in a way that is reprehensible and contrary to civility, or we can conduct ourselves as rational adults.

No one placed a gun to this persons head and forced them to beat another human being with a brick...no one can say "they forced me to do XYZ" .

Blaming one political party or another for the actions of an individual, is disingenuous, short sighted, and reeks of hypocrisy when you consider both parties are guilty of doing it at one time or another.
