And Kushner hired Jamie Gorelick, Deputy AG under Clinton and then Abbe Lowell. He has access to the best defense his money can buy. It doesn't mean he or Cohen will prevail.

President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen has hired Lanny Davis, a lawyer for the Clinton White House, to represent him amid his ongoing legal battles.

“Like most of America, I have been following the matter regarding Michael Cohen with great interest,” Lanny Davis said in a statement shared by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman.

“As an attorney, I have talked to Michael many times in the last two weeks. Then I read his words published on July 2, and I recognized his sincerity,” the statement continued. “Michael Cohen deserves to tell his side of the story — subject, of course, to the advice of counsel.”

Also, Cohen's taking the 5th in the Stormy Daniels case. I seem to recall someone saying at all their campaign rallys that if you take the 5th, you've obviously done something wrong and "only the mob takes the 5th".

Not sure what to make of it even though it is an interesting choice as it's obvious that Lanny Davis is no fan of Donald Trump. But as Michael Avenatti points out actions speak louder than words and he hasn't seen anything yet that indicates Michael Cohen loyalty no longer lies with Trump. Could be Cohen chose Lanny Davis because of his vast experience in the Washington arena just as he chose Petrillo for his experience with the Southern District of New York. Lawyers like Davis work with a wide variety of clients. Surely there been some that have shared his personal or political views and some that didn't. And I'm sure being the professional that he is that he would make no such distinction and would give the clients that don't share his views or opinions the best defense he can possibly give them. Just as he would with those that do share his views and opinions.
