Donald Trump says North Korea talks ‘going well,’ U.S. ‘would now be at war’ if it weren’t for him

U.S. President Donald Trump insists that talks with North Korea “going well” despite reports Kim Jong Un’s regime is continuing with its nuclear weapons program.

On Tuesday, the president slammed “fake news” and claimed that “if not for me, we would now be at war with North Korea!”

“Many good conversations with North Korea-it is going well! In the meantime, no Rocket Launches or Nuclear Testing in 8 months,” Trump tweeted.

“All of Asia is thrilled. Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining. If not for me, we would now be at War with North Korea!”

COMMENT:-

I have a bit of trouble with seeing how "might fail" and "going well" can be used by the same person to describe the same thing.

BUT, I completely agree that "if it weren't for (him)" the US might well be at war with the DPRK. After all, Mr. Trump hasn't yet attacked the DPRK and the leadership of the DPRK is well aware of the "If we attack the US (or anyone else) then the US will turn out country into a giant, self-illuminated, glass paved, parking lot and our friends in the PRC won't do diddly-squat about it." calculus.

PS - If the US were to attack the DPRK, then there is next to no chance that the PRC would use nuclear weapons against the United States of America (or any of its possessions). That, of course, doesn't rule out "area denial" use of nuclear weapons to hinder the staging of US (and/or allied) troops for an assault on the DPRK.

OMFG ................ it is ALWAYs about Trump; no ****ing doubt ............ what a ****ing asshat ...........

Well that's megalomania and delusions of grandure for you.

It just shows the ridiculousness, ignorance and ego that Trump has. The only entity that can legally declare war is congress and there is no way congress would approve of going to war with NK, short of NK actually launching a nuclear weapon at someone.

Additionally, it is being shown that NK is not dismantling their nuclear weapons program and in fact are repairing and hardening it instead.

That's like me bragging to my neighbor that it is all due to me that I didn't go shoot his place up, so he should thank me for that.

Trump is looking like a straight up fool, but that shouldn't bother him since he is a fool.

In short, do yourselves a little favor- and don't believe a word Donald Trump says!

Along with everything Donald Trump is trying to tell you- he is actually trying to sell you! Everything is for sale in a Donald Trump world, and his main incentive and motivation is- he wants to directly benefit personally and financially on everything in the world. Every decision he makes is about him!

Donald Trump will have you going down every rabbit hole in your path if you listen to him.

How did we ever manage all those years between the end of the Korean War until inauguration day 2017?

No one can polish a turd like Trump. The con man got conned by an even bigger conman. I guess we now know which megalomaniac has the thinnest ego, and its name is not Korean.

So, you expected 60+ years of American diplomatic failure to be solved in one meeting eh? There's no doubt in my mind that going forward you will highlight every pebble in the road as some kind of failure, and we have far to go.

Let's see what happens

It is not what I was expecting, but from what i can recall here on DP that is what Trump supporters were saying was going to happen

Please pay more attention to the latest version of the currently operative officially approved government sanctioned version of reality. A failure to repeat the party line can result in sanctions being applied.

I should hate to have to report you to MinTru.

I don't remember where, but I heard someone talking about how Trump acts like an abuser. He constantly escalates, or even invents, problems and then expects praise when the heat lowers. With North Korea you see his victims praising his escalating Twitter threats as strong, but now here we are in the same position we have always been. He hasn't accomplished anything.
