The legislation largely followed immigration principles issued by the White House in January, providing $25 billion for President Trump’s long-sought border wall, scaling back legal immigration and giving young undocumented immigrants a shot at citizenship. It also would allow migrant families to remain together in detention.

Careening from ally to antagonist and back, Trump tweeted his support early Wednesday morning. The tweet stood in stark contrast to one he sent Friday in which he said Republicans “should stop wasting their time on Immigration” until after the midterm elections, when, he predicted, more GOP lawmakers would be elected.

For the past few weeks Republicans have been furiously negotiating among themselves to develop a “compromise” between conservative and moderate Republicans on immigration. But it wasn’t enough — by a long shot: The bill they voted on Wednesday lost the support of every single Democrat and 112 Republicans. The bill failed 121-301.
Massive kick in the face to Ryan and the leadership

I don't have any sympathy for Ryan. Heck, I don't think he even wanted that bill to pass. He just wants to be able to say he tried. But it was a doomed effort and he knew it. The Senate would never pass it.

Don't expect Congress to do anything other than their usual political posturing.

Proof positive how out of touch the GOP leadership is with middle America. They have the Presidency, and both Houses, yet cannot govern. If repeal and replace looked like an anomaly, this is glaring of GOP ineptitude, and will not play well in the mid terms.

Yup! Can't fix the victimization. Gotta have them victims for the Democrat to justify their existance.

The GOP Congress wants NO compromise , they'll let the immigration fiasco linger until November and ramp up the bigotry and fear mongering.trump will lead the way....

Hey! We aren't the party that loaded up the House with Tea-leaf Constitutionalists and Libertarians disguised as Republicans.

In fact, the Democrats are hell-bent on replacing them in the fall elections!

Tea-Leaf Constitutionalists and Libertarians will never agree to a reformed comprehensive immigration bill!

How does that explain the GOP total ineptitude when faced with major legislation. The ACA and now immigration. The Republican'ts fail when they have both houses in Congress and the White House. Seems the GOP is victimized by their own rabid elements making common sense and bi-partisanship the victim of thugger ideology... :peace

GOP House Immigration Bill:...NO people of color allowed in , NO exceptions....Militarize the Border at any cost...
