A West Point grad wrote ‘Communism will win’ in his cap. The Army kicked him out.

Seeing as it was disease that killed the vast majority of the native population in the Americas blaming that all on the Christians is rather dishonest.

Lmao, disease brought over by Europeans to the Americas, slavery from Africa, concentration camps set up in colonies all over the world, forced marriages, forced integration in the 1900s, research programs in the 1950s, forced labor Asia, don't be silly an believe these stresses weren't pushed onto he new populations they encountered.

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

West Point has existed since long before the Cold War started - and beyond when it ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

How do we know this wasn't simply written in jest by a mischievous cadet? Youthful pranks are hardly unknown.

What if he'd written - "Germany will win" instead - would he have similarly been punished?
Will seeing as he was also wearing a Che shirt under his uniform and is calling himself a socialist revolutionary while speaking at some conference for socialism, I think the odds that it was just a dumb joke are pretty low.

I am not defending what the Europeans did at all.
But blaming them for all the deaths that were caused by disease especially in a time when the causees and treatments of those diseases was not that we'll known is rather weak. Hell many times the disease traveled much faster then the explorers and large percentages of the population were dead well before they even got there.

Um, intentionally killing someone with disease is still murder and an outright human rights violation and ethnic cleansing. Evidently, you don't know about the small pox blankets.

“I consider myself a revolutionary socialist,” the 26-year-old Rapone told The Associated Press. “I would encourage all soldiers who have a conscience to lay down their arms and join me and so many others who are willing to stop serving the agents of imperialism and join us in a revolutionary movement.”

Rapone said his journey to communism grew out of his experiences as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan before he was accepted into the U.S. Military Academy.

Only that's not what was done, and you've misrepresented what I said to match whatever position defending Europe you have.

So what? Are West Point graduates not entitled to their political opinions?

The guy is not in the military any more so what do you think?

Top brass at Fort Drum accepted Rapone’s resignation Monday after an earlier reprimand for “conduct unbecoming of an officer.”

Rapone said an investigation found he went online to advocate for a socialist revolution and disparage high-ranking officers. Officially, the Army said in a statement only that it conducted a full investigation and “appropriate action was taken.”

An unrepentant Rapone summed up the fallout in yet another tweet Monday that showed him extending a middle finger at a sign at the entrance to Fort Drum, accompanied by the words, “One final salute.”

He was entitled to have and hold his opinion that you think he was not only indicates how far your country has fallen.

The guy served as an army ranger in Afghanistan. I'm sure he understands his oath and service better than a lot of people criticizing him. I'd rather him as my officer with his combat experience than most of the 2nd Lt's you run into.

Actually, the Army went by the book, defending America from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

I do know about the small pox blankets. I also know that killed relatively few Native Americans. The majority are killed simply be the Europeans unknowingly bringing in diseases that the NA had never been exposed to.

Doesn't make what the settlers and early Americans did any less horrible but it is the truth.

tell that to Putin.
Oh Putin is kicking ass, because in addition to living rent free in your head and after having Obama stroke him off for 8 years, now he has an army of mindless leftists telling the world how powerful he is by controlling the US elections...never mind those leftists have been parroting the same empty headed rhetoric now for almost 3 years as a pathetic excuse for the failings and failure of the DNC.

If Putin 'wins', it wont be because of communism...it will be because empty headed leftist ****s are too ****ing stupid to recognize how easily they have been played.

Thats not Communism 'winning'. Thats just leftists in this country being that ****ing stupid. Leftists have been played by their political leadership consistently. Willingly. All Putin is doing is sitting back, watching, and laughing his balls off.

You do not understand military service and the requirements that it entails. Fine to have an opinion but actions are a another matter. Our country is doing great. Look at all who want to come here!

Then that makes him all the more despicable. Why would he violate his oath?
Tell us please about all the 2nd Lt's you have run into and why they are not capable.

His allegiance to communist ideology isn’t compatible with the oath of office or his position as an officer.

Everyone in the military is entitled to their opinion, but the military has set rules on how to go about political activity. This jack wad went intentionally acted out against the rules to get his 5 minutes of fame. He's a piece of ****.... and has no business being in the military, never mind a leadership position.

I don't know if I necessarily agree with the notion that Europeans escaped this fanaticism so much as I would say they transferred it to new colonial figures of authority. To be precise, im more inclined to that the fanaticism of Christianity was hidden behind slogans like the Scramble for Africa, and Manifest Destiny and refocused for the purpose of exerting population controls without necessarily enslaving the entire population.

I would very much agree.

But Shari'ati's meaning was about the Age of Enlightenment (or Reason) directly after the Dark Ages, in which intellectuals and philosophers began to replace the Church as the authority over the population with concepts of constitutional government, the separation of church and state, liberalism, democracy, private property, capitalism, etc. He argues that in shattering the Pope's authority, and that of the monarchs (ordained by God), the philosophers of the Enlightenment shoved God aside. By the end of the Dark Ages, in Europe, there was no such thing as healthy religion. Capitalism turned to greed and materialism, which became the next "master" to enslave the same people who were once enslaved to religious fanaticism. Communism sought to free the worker from the factory, but merely organized the greed and materialism differently, while shoving God even further. And this is where Shari'ati (and other Islamic philosophers to individual degrees) reasoned that Muslim society needed to return to God.

The reason I say this is that even when Europe saw the middle ages as a barbaric time, many European powers were still pushing for christian based alliances for the purpose of controlling their expanded holdings everywhere from South America to East Asia. Domination of colonial holdings rested on the ability of European powers to appear seamless in their control, even if the systems of governance were different from colony to colony. At least, that's how the Russians saw it by the 1880s, and what IMO would eventually evolve into the idea of the EU as a method of protection.

That said, the church was instrumental in performing some of the dirtier tasks that colonial authorities would not have easily gotten away with. With notable exceptions like the DRC, churches in Africa became institutional centers of reform for the colonial powers. In Canada, churches regularly removed children from native American communities and sent them to be reeducated long before residential schools were started.

Fair enough. The missionaries and the government bureaucrats certainly worked together to legitimize each other to the indigenous. The converted were given trusteeships and leadership positions within the bureaucracy. In time, this created divisions within and loss of culture. Funny you brought up orphanages. One of the aspects in the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood was the Egyptian orphanages in which Muslim kids were being indoctrinated to Christianity. At the instruction of British bureaucrats, the "state" had taken over all social duties from the ulema. It was this inability to function for Islam that the Modernists first began blaming the religious leaders for leaving Muslims society vulnerable.
