Trump administration withdrawing from UN Human Rights Council | Fox News

The Trump administration is expected to announce Tuesday that the U.S. will withdraw from the United Nations Human Rights Council. A U.S. official confirmed the decision to Fox News.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will use a joint statement in Washington at 5p.m. to announce and explain the departure from the 47-member council.

Apparently the UN Human Rights Council is anti-Israel. But it seems to be yet another group Trump is withdrawing us from as he continues his attempt to isolate the US and diminish our international clout.

shrug... Is this a surprise? Trump has already clearly established that the US won't have any part in groups or organizations that work against our interests.

Are we violating Human Rights? Why would the UN HRC be against us?

The UN HRC is anti-Israel and it allows human rights abusers a seat at the table.

The irony here is that our human rights abuses are becoming so great that past U.S. administrations would have argued that we also do not deserve a seat at the table (assuming we were some other country not name the U.S. but with the record that we are now accruing).

Re: Trump administration withdrawing from UN Human Rights Council

I guess we'll see if the idea of "America First" means it's first because it's isolated itself.

Re: Trump administration withdrawing from UN Human Rights Council

Britain and the US are in strong agreement on that issue.

That the UN HRC is anti-Israel? Are they [Britian] pulling out too then?

I didn't say against us. I said against our interests.

Re: Trump administration withdrawing from UN Human Rights Council

So first Trump was criticized for not supporting our allies, and now he's criticized for supporting an ally. Makes sense.

Do we have interests that are inherently anti-human rights?

According to many, we’re the absolute worst about it.

The hate for Israel is long and deep and many absolutely hate that we’re allies with them.

I don't think so.

What does this group do, and what has it accomplished?

It does seem they’re often only concerned with nations that are generally good as I believe both the US and Israel to be.

There have been some questionable acts as of late, but we're no where close to the bottom of that list.

I don't see a reason to pull out, at least if we're on the council, we have some say with it.

Really, to what benefit? Do they support anything about the US or have our back in any way?

24 hours after the UN human rights body criticised trumps policy of separating families at the US border with Mexico, the equally annoying Nikki Haley trying to deflect the reason why the US is pulling out by blaming the UN's treatment of Israel .... this is the road the US is going down

We should take it one step further and just withdraw form the UN entirely! Joke of an organization anyway!

Of course the man who is ejaculating in public over the world's largest human rights abuser, his new BFF, the smart wonderful intelligent man who loves his country of North Korea, is pulling out of the UN Human Rights Council. Makes sense to me.

Is there anything that Trump could do where it would cause you to make a positive post about him? Anything? ;)

I like Trump more and more every day. It's ridiculous for terrorists to do things to Israel, run and hide in a school, stock their weapons in a school, and then when Israel bombs the school Israel is called out for human rights violations. When are the actual terrorists ever called out for human rights violations? Most, if not all of these terrorist nations say that Israel has no right to exist but are never called out for that either.

Re: Trump administration withdrawing from UN Human Rights Council

Given his policy on immigrants we do not deserve to be part of Human Rights. Truly disgusting.

You mean the legislation he's following, legislation designed by congress in 1996, is that the law you're referring to? ;)

What sort of say-with-it would the US of A have with regard to how women are treated in its member council states like Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia etc. etc. ?
