Prepare ship for ludacris speed
Well, NASA isn't into manned space flight that much anymore.
The USAF is, and I bet theyre pissed off about this. There already is a Space Command within the Air Force.
I agree in that the militirization of space is inevitable, but we're a long way off. The new space race is still in its infancy.
WE NEED more space exploration funding! we need to start resolving how to get our asses out into the solar system to EFFICIENTLY make us of all those resources in the asteroid belt to solve problems HERE on earth (such as NOT tearing it up to mine for crap)...and even more far fetched stuff, such as how to use the one furnace none of our trash can lay a hand on polluting as a waste disposal , to stop using our planet! these COULD BE DOABLE with just small breakthroughs and a permanent presence in space.
Well, I've always been a proponent of establishing a moon base as a jumping point toward the rest of the solar system. There are enough resources on the Moon to produce an effective and efficient fuel production and launch platform for the rest of the solar system. We would still need to do large scale production here on earth to deliver the components of space craft and base structures, but it would eventually become self sustaining, and then the Moon would also be used as a last stop for materials on their way back to earth.
From the moon a Mars expedition becomes easier... though still daunting. The issue with Mars is it has a significant gravity that complicates any thought of a return trip since it becomes design prohibitive to send a ship with enough fuel to escape Martian gravity... let alone land such a ship safely on Mars.
yeah those are good ideas, and we need breakthrough's like space elevator type stuff, the reusable rockets Musk is working with, ultra efficient drives and such , but it certainly could happen... we just need more funding for such things to make it.
Not just satellites, which are vitally important, but attacks on anything from above.
Being prepared is not a bad idea. WW I was initially fought with no current weaponry. The shoulder arm was 20 year old. Wheeled weaponry similarly. At the beginning of WW II, the US had no bombers, few ships, and still using the same '03 Springfield shoulder arm.
Once upon a time we humans had this idea that we could agree to not militarize space.
Clearly we could not manage.
Imagine Trump coming across aliens  yeah we're so screwed
