Manhattan prosecutors have contacted AT&T, Novartis over dealings with Donald Trump’s lawyer

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are investigating whether Michael Cohen, the longtime personal lawyer for Donald Trump, illegally engaged in secret lobbying, people familiar with the investigation said, as part of the government’s broader probe into Mr. Cohen’s business dealings.

In the course of that investigation, the prosecutors have contacted companies that hired Mr. Cohen as a consultant after Mr. Trump won the 2016 presidential election, including AT&T Inc. and Novartis AG , according to other people familiar with the matter. The companies paid a total of about $1.8 million to Mr. Cohen in 2017 and early 2018 for his insights into the Trump administration.​

Cohen should not have a problem paying his legal bills.........I read Cohen put the squeeze on companies to the tune of over $4 mil.

You're assuming he kept all that money and didn't pass it on...

Also, even if he did keep it, I'm sure those assets would be frozen, not to mention his legal fees are probably in excess of $4 mil.

But his bills up to this point I heard were getting to what could be around $100,000 a week.

Or most likely off-shored and hidden from what may happen to him. So there's a nest egg when it's over.

Apparently, this stuff was being investigated by Mueller as long ago as last year. Though I'm not sure if actual prosecutors contacting the firms is something new.

Regardless, I figure Cohen will likely be the next indictment to drop, and I think it will be soon.

Perhaps. But if true, he can't dare access it now. And it's very possible overseas funds will be confiscated as restitution, as will surely be done with Manafort.

A dozen lawyers or more, at 600 bucks an hour, working nearly around the clock seven days a week, trying to sort through over 3M pages of documents by tomorrow.

Avenatti claims the costs could be as high as pushing a 1/2 mil a week, which theoretically works out when crunching the numbers to the max, but I suspect the billing is more in the lower to lower-mid six figure range.

At Manhattan billing rates for federal criminal defense, I wouldn't doubt if it is over 100K/week if they're really working around the clock 24/7.

15 x 400-600/hr = 6-9K per hour. That's 60-90K alone, for a single 10 hour day.

Unless the docs are being looked at by non-attorneys, para-legals, or other non-lawyer personnel.

Well, no collusion that we're aware of. Only Mueller knows. Their may be conspiracy or other crimes, too.

While Manafort may be dangerous to Trump, I believe Cohen may pose the greater danger. Cohen is Trump's fixer, as you stated, but he also is the nexus between Trump and the Russian Oligarch underworld.

Cohen has been one of trump’s inner circle for a long time, and whatever important information he has is going to affect trump directly. What obligation is Cohen under to go to jail just to protect trump?

$600 an hour is for the associates. And that’s probably low. A couple thousand a billable hour for the partners...and you know they’re billing liberally.

Well I'm sure they aren't doing crack to stay awake so they'd have to sleep but 15 lawyers working around the clock on it in shifts.
