Transgender Track Athlete Wins CT State Championship, Debate Ensues – CBS New York

Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood dominated the competition at Connecticut’s girls track and field state championships earlier this week. Miller took 1st place in both the 100 and 200 meter dash, while Yearwood finished second in the 100. According to News 8 in Hartford, CT, both Miller and Yearwood are transgender which has some people saying that the pair had an unfair advantage.

What did they think would result from this liberal lunacy?

Girls athletics is in jeopardy. These stories will be become more and more common.

It's amazing what nonsense some people choose to churn their stomach acid over.

Wouldn't this be a case of performance weakening?

Doesn't seem quite fair to me...

What does this have to do with liberals? LMAO

Anyway, i agree there are always going to be questions on this fron and it needs looked at but first and foremost i leave it up to medical science to determine then the national bodies responsible for these events. If they and medical science conclude its fair fine by me. I would have to be a complete moron to think i know better sitting here in my office chair. lol

mostly a nonissue to me as long as they are looking at it

I don't think this is an isolated incident, and, unfortunately, science tells us that biological males are typically stronger than biological females.

It leaves us (and the school districts) with a quandary.

I like athletics, but I'm not a fan of competitive sports in schools. I think they should be moved to community recreational centers, but I can see where situations like this will upset girls and their parents.

I really don't know the answer -- transgender students should have the same right to compete -- and, if they they identify as the other sex, they should probably be allowed to compete as such.

What I think will eventually happen is that sports are removed from the school arena, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

That doesn't strike me as being especially likely.

Oh look, yet another idiotic "liberals are stupid poopyheads." It's all the right has to offer

What else can they do? They know the biological girls are out of luck, yet they can't discriminate against the transgender girls?

I guess it depends on how much they value boys' sports. By all appearances, in most school districts, that's a metric ****ton.

I'm fine with it. **** em. Till they tell girls not to join the BOYscouts, I'm fine with boys dominating girls sports

So tit-for-tat (not that the Boy Scouts can be really compared to sports)?

What does this have to do with the Boy Scouts? The Boy Scouts are not a competitive organization. Scouting organizations in other countries are co-ed.

I've found that the easiest way to teach people how things feel for others, is to make them walk a couple miles in those shoe.

Boy Scouts isn't sports...but it's one of the very few places where boys can just be with other boys. Sports? Nope, girls are allowed to compete in boys sports.

its not isolated at all and the opposite has also happened trans women to man doing good in mens sports
and the science you mentioned is NOT the science that fully applies . . yes in general men are stronger but you are talking about men and women not undergoing treatments. men are stronger basically because of testosterone and its impact long term exposure to muscle boners etc etc

currently what they are looking at in different sports orgs and boards like the Olympics which many allow them to compete is testosterone and estrogen levels and stuff like that. And those levels have to remain at a certain point for a certain time (i dont know what it is)

but for example, no a 28 year old man who is an mma fighter that decided to do the full change this year in feb is not and should not be allowed to start competing as a women right now in june.

but a 13 year old boy who started treatments and has been one them for 3 years whos levels are with in the current wanted/needed range does get to compete...

again im just throwing very very basics stuff out there because i actually dont know the time limits and levels so its just a very raw explanation. But thats how they are currently looking at this stuff and im fine with it if medical science support it..

I seriously doubt we will see sports disappear in school nor would i ever want that.

I'm happy for those other countries. This isn't one of those countries.

Welcome to the logical conclusion of rampant SJW idiocy.

I was graduated from an all-girls school and was a Girl Scout, so I have no objections to same-sex activities. I do object to "an eye for an eye" thinking, though, and the specific issue here is transgendered athletes and whether their participation in a same-sex sports contest is fair.

Why, do you think that there's that many transgenders in the world or that a vast amount of boys will suddenly try to risk everything in their life to transition to a female just to win a state championship or medal? I do think yes, maybe there might be a case or two to do that just for the glory of winning but I hardly think it would put all girls athletics in jeopardy.

So interesting a topic.

Everything has a price. We talk a good public game that women can do everything a man can do (infantry, for example), and that equality reigns, but the truth constantly lies underneath. Here we have two female brains in male bodies winning first and second place, and the voices of "equality" now whine? But it's all equal right?

There's a reason the Olympics separate the genders and it is not because they are physically equal. If an individual is in the position where he/she is "in the wrong body," then they also have to accept that living as the "correct" gender has a price. Since he/she has the body of the opposite sex, they should have to compete accordingly if they are allowed to compete at all. Not fair to the mind of the he/she? Well, tell that to the women who train to race, only to be beat out by a he-girl, she-man...whatever.

Then my point isn't directed at you.

There are lots of people who are fine with having girls in the Boy Scouts. But boys can't go into Girl Scouts. They're fine with that, too. Fine with girls competing with boys in boys sports. But boys can't compete against girls in girls sports. They're fine with men who self identify as woman using the woman's bathroom. Logically speaking, this should be fine with those people as well....

Yet, something tells me, this will not be fine with them.

To that I say, fix all the **** we broke that I listed above...or suck it up, cuz if they don't care about boys, then I don't care about girls. I'm sick of this ****!

College sports is a billion dollar a year industry.

Who says you have to do any physical transitioning to say you are female? And I don't think it has anything to do with glory, its about money: Scholarships.

My daughter's school has a "transgender" that attends. I put that in quotes because he/she has transitioned from male to female, back to male, and back to female( really, I've lost track at this point ), and the school district allows him/her to participate in gender-specific sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms of his/her choice. Honestly, I fully expect a troll-level book at graduation.
