From burning couches to Donald Trump saluting Mounties, the G7 frenzy in photos
The G7 summit has produced some unusual scenes, from U.S. President Donald Trump saluting a group of Mounties after touching down in Quebec, to boarded-up storefronts in Quebec City decorated with colourful murals.
More than a dozen groups, networks and coalitions are taking part in some way in the anti-G7 demonstrations in Quebec City and outside the summit in La Malbaie.
The G7 summit regularly draws crowds of protesters, although the turnout has shrunk in recent years.
COMMENT:-
The funniest one of the bunch is the first one.
"The Drill" is that the "inferior" salutes the "superior" and does not "drop the salute" until the "superior" returns it.
The picture shows Mr. Trump saluting two RCMP Constables (the lowest rank in the RCMP other than "Recruit") when those two Constables have not saluted him first. There are slightly later pictures that show the two Constables returning Mr. Trump's salute.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Trump for recognizing that an RCMP Constable "outranks" the President of the United States of America and I would do so if I wasn't totally convinced that Mr. Trump was simply clueless. Fortunately this is the only "clueless" action/statement of Mr. Trump since he assumed the office of President of the United States of America.
