Donald trump is ‘obsessed’ with pardons, his new ‘favorite thing,' white house official says

I find this issue very puzzling. What difference does it make if he can or can not pardon himself? If there is evidence of a crime impeachment can not be escaped and if convicted removal from office. What else would the people want? Imprisonment? It simply can not happen because the VP would issue the pardon like Ford did for Nixon.
Now if some state would subsequently convict based on state statutes that is an entirely different matter.
So what is the big deal?

And were Pence to pardon him would prove his guilt. But...can 45 depend on Pence to pardon him? I mean, he's supposedly a "moral" authority. But then he did misuse his own campaign funds.;)

No, it tells you nothing because it doesn’t matter a bit what they didn’t say or didn’t do. It in no way changes what the Constitution says.

Can you tell me why not a single president in over 225 years read that same Constitution and came up with the same conclusion that Trump has come up with about pardoning himself?

And honest answer.... and I stress HONEST ..... would tell you that it is Trump and his supporters who are wildly wrong about this.

Well, first, why would a President even comment on that? You could probably count on one hand the number of Presidents that would ever even have it on their radar. Second, it's not a Constitutional interpretation. So it really doesn't matter what they say. If it did, then it's been decided to be Constitutional, since we have one President that says it is, and none that say it isn't.

Are Trump and his supporters wildly wrong about this? Is that the question?
I don't know, it could go either way. Nothing in the Constitution says he can't do it. Certainly not "wildly" wrong, that's for sure.
