WASHINGTON, June 4 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who has been indicted by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, attempted to tamper with potential witnesses, Mueller said in a court filing on Monday.
Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, asked the judge overseeing the case in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to revoke or revise an order releasing Manafort ahead of his trial.

FBI Special Agent Brock Domin, in a declaration filed with Mueller's motion, said Manafort had attempted to call, text and send encrypted messages in February to two people from "The Hapsburg Group," a firm he worked with to promote the interests of Ukraine.
The FBI has documents and statements from the two people, as well as telephone records and documents recovered through a search of Manafort's iCloud account showing that Trump's former campaign manager attempted communication while he was out on bail, according to Domin.

Oh man....if true, and on the face of this article I have no reason to believe it is not true, Manafort looks like he just shot a giant hole in his defense....

I agree j-mac. His bond may be getting revoked now too. The courts don't **** around. If they tell you, you are to have no communication with someone, you are to have no communication with someone.

What a dumb move....He has competent legal counsel, I have to imagine they are slamming things around saying something like "HE DID WHAT?!!!! Good grief.

The judge should revoke Manafot's terms of pre-trial home detention and remand him into the custody of the federal court lockup where he'll remain for the duration of the trial procedure.

So I'm kinda ignorant about this. Is it illegal to have any contact with a witness to does the content of contact matter?

If the Judge issued a directive to Manafort upon his bail pre trial that he was to have no contact with anyone potentially relevant to this case then yes, he supremely screwed the pooch...The judge could immediately revoke his bail, and throw him in jail...Now, that doesn't mean that Manafort is automatically guilty, the SC still has to prove their charges, but it doesn't look like an innocent man when he ignores bail instruction, and violates what he was told NOT to do....

If this is proven true, which like I said I have no reason yet to not think that it is, that is likely the outcome here.

Yeah I get it. It was a stupid thing to do. I'm just trying to educate myself on the law. I wasn't aware that the judge specifically told him that. I'm curious to hear mana forts argument too.
