'Comey and the boys' shouldn't have hidden probe of Paul Manafort during campaign, Trump says | Fox News
Trump said:
As only one of two people left who could become President, why wouldn’t the FBI or Department of “Justice” have told me that they were secretly investigating Paul Manafort (on charges that were 10 years old and had been previously dropped) during my campaign? Should have told me!
Trump said:
....Paul Manafort came into the campaign very late and was with us for a short period of time (he represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole & many others over the years), but we should have been told that Comey and the boys were doing a number on him, and he wouldn’t have been hired!
The FBI r
eportedly interviewed Manafort twice
before he became campaign chair, but it is unclear if Manafort informed the Trump campaign about their inquiries.

What's more deplorable than Trump's claims is the fact that the Fox News articles doesn't give any context, and doesn't point out that it's long-standing law enforcement practice in the FBI and elsewhere, to not disclose matters of an ongoing investigation. Period. For obvious reasons that should not have to be explained to Americans.

Of course they wouldn't notify him:
1. it's part of an ongoing investigation, to notify him would likely see them punished or fired (or worse), and would jeopardize the entire investigation
2. obviously they can't tell you, because you may be a part of the investigation (and obviously are) (part of #1, spelled out)
3. Manafort knew, but either didn't disclose it to Trump, or Trump is lying.

I mean, Manafort was engaged in criminal activity, why blame the DOJ for investigating him? How about blame Manafort for committing crimes and not telling you? Or conduct a better "screening" process that no doubt would have turned up Manafort's sketchy past and near-misses. And applauding the DOJ for going after him to seek justice. Wrong in so many ways. Remember, Trump was warned mutliple times by multiple people about Flynn, and Trump hired him anyway. This is as desperate as it gets.

Also gotta love distancing himself from his own hand-picked campaign head/chairmen.

Alex, I’ll have the last three words of option #3!

Thanks for the link; I wasn't aware of the President's tweet:

The FBI should have disclosed that it was "doing a number" on former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort in 2016, President Trump said Sunday, at once excoriating both federal investigators and the lack of transparency surrounding the ongoing Russia probe.

"As only one of two people left who could become President, why wouldn’t the FBI or Department of 'Justice' have told me that they were secretly investigating Paul Manafort (on charges that were 10 years old and had been previously dropped) during my campaign?" Trump tweeted. "Should have told me!" 'Comey and the boys' shouldn't have hidden probe of Paul Manafort during campaign, Trump says | Fox News

That's a good question.

Trump: "Why didn't the FBI warn me that Russian agents and other unregistered foreign agents would infiltrate my campaign?"
FBI: "We did."
Trump: "Well, why didn't somebody try to stop me when I hired them anyway?"
Mueller: "Hullo."

Trump's complaints about the FBI failing to notify the campaign are legitimate.
Even your Post article said, "A person familiar with Manafort’s work on the campaign said there was no information to suggest that the FBI had alerted the campaign to any concerns the bureau had with Manafort."

Trump: "Why didn't the FBI warn me that Russian agents and other unregistered foreign agents would infiltrate my campaign?"
FBI: "We did."

Mueller: "Hullo."

Knock knock knock...hullo...hullo...links?

After Trump won the Republican primary, the FBI warned him that Russians would try to infiltrate his campaign. In response, Trump's campaign repeatedly met with Russian agents, hired one Russian spy and two unregistered foreign agents.

So my question is: at what point is Trump responsible for his relationship with Russian agents?

I bolded the key words for you. The truth is, the FBI was already investigating the Trump campaign. They should have told the Russians have tried and that those attempts were being investigated.

Ahem.

So my question is: at what point is Trump responsible for his relationship with Russian agents? If "never" is your answer, you can just say so.

My comment wasnt directed at your question but your comment.

The question was the meat of my post. I'll paste it here again for you: At what point is Trump responsible for his relationship with Russian agents? If "never" is your answer, you can just say so.

I have NO doubts that the Trump campaign would not have hired Mananfort if the FBI had come forward and told them that the FBI had investigated Manafort’s Ukraine activities back in 2014.

No, the question was just a question. The 'meat' if there was any, was in the comment that preceded the question. That is what I addressed.

"Paul Manafort, the adviser hired by Donald Trump to add stability and institutional know-how to Trump’s often scattershot presidential campaign, has long and deep reported ties to pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine."

That politifact article came out in May 2, 2016.

So again I ask: At what point is Trump responsible for his relationship with Russian agents?

Okay, I accept "never" as your answer.

Why would Trump have been concerned about any ties to Ukraine in May of 2016? Or to Russia for that matter?

Okay, I accept "never" as your answer.

And I will accept your complete avoidance of my point as you not wanting to face anything that conflicts with your own bias.

As of this day, AFAIK, none, since it was Jared Kushner who hired Manafort and not DJT, and we both know Kushner has since been cleared for a top security clearance by the FBI after being interviewed by Mueller a couple of times. If there was something up with Kushner and Manafort, Kushner would have never received his final clearance.
Kushner and Ivanka were responsible for hiring, and hired Manafort based on his stellar resume cover page where it was described that Manafort was proven as “the most experienced and lethal of managers” who would be a “killer” at the GOP convention.

Okay, so Trump's son in law is responsible for one unregistered foreign agent. Who's responsible for hiring Carter Page and Michael Flynn?

It's a sad state of affairs that being a loyal trump supporter requires the feigning of stupidity as a regular debate tactic.

That's a good question.
I responded to those terrible questions in the OP. Have you no comment on them to debate? Or are you just signaling your support of Trump? Maybe we should move this to Pinterest, where you can just LIKE stuff by Trump, and never have to debate it. I was hoping you'd debate, on debate politics.

You believe that despite it being a well known best practice and long-standing procedure for DOJ to not discuss ongoing investigations, that you think it's a good question to ask why if he was being investigated, they didn't tell him? You really think that's a good question based on that, and the rather obvious reasons why such procedures are in place, and are long-standing?

You tell us. It's noteworthy how you moved the goal posts and ignored what I wrote.

Good day, but I am not interested in playing.......
