A valedictorian's speech was barred as too political, so he gave it outside through a bullhorn

A high school valedictorian in Kentucky praised the fight for stronger gun laws by school-shooting survivors in Florida, and applauded his classmates for participating in an anti-abortion march, saying students should "continue to utilize our voices."

The only problem was that Holy Cross High School valedictorian Christian Bales gave his commencement address through a bullhorn outside the graduation venue after officials with the local Catholic diocese ruled parts of his speech were too political and not in keeping with church teachings.

COMMENT:-
What puzzles me is whether the local Catholic diocese objected to

  1. the statements condemning killing school children;
  2. the statements supporting those who opposed abortion; or
  3. both.

People will tell you that school is there to educate you, but in truth, its only there to prepare you for work.

Its Monday through Friday, 8 hours long, sometimes more dues to extra assignments (at work they're called "stretch" assignments), you get a couple of 15s and a half for lunch, you have to wear a uniform/dress code, you have a specified number of sick days, a couple weeks of vacation, etc.

According to the article you linked, the students were required to submit their speeches for review but missed the deadline.

The reason for rejection that was given was "content" and not "lateness".
