I grew up with the Weinstein brothers. My now deceased younger brother was one of Harvey's close friends when growing up. Many of their personal friends are my acquaintances, including Harvey's first wife. I worked 15 years for the NYPD, and almost all my adult life in backroom NYC politics. I still have my hands steeped in backroom NYC politics and philanthropies. Philanthropic events are the mainstay of NYC social life and politics. I'm still in a position of influence that can make or break local politicians.
My wife, her sister and her friends are very steeped in the social life of NYC philanthropies. They all know the Toad Brothers, Harvey and Bob, their wives, families, and associates. The gossip is their entertainment, and they are laughing all over this. More than a few are personally acquainted with the same plastic surgeon Georgina recently used. Nobody had to cover for the brothers, no one cared about their antics. If it ever gets out to the general public what goes on with CEO's, CFO's and executives in almost every industry and every facet of politics, the scandal sheets will run out of print space to cover the stories and claims. Our courts will be overwhelmed. :rofl
The club I belong to and whose gym and indoor pool I use almost daily, along with the local pub I traffic, are filled with people from these circles since I was a kid, their kids and grandkids, many following in their parents' footsteps. One way or another, NYC is a collection of small towns.
When I get pulled over by local police, it is because they want to say hello, show some respect, want to know if I know anything they should know and pass on what they do know, and little of that knowledge has anything to do with law enforcement. Almost daily, I interact with NYPD officers assigned to the schools as safety officers where I pickup my grandkids from school. They are thrilled because the other kids come over to speak with me and my grandkids, and then interact positively with the officers, seeing them as friends instead of enemy authority figures. The way it should be. The kids like me because I show up to cheer them as their sports teams play, and they learn new ways to insult people, occasionally some local history. Yup, once your school was part of a farm, a golf course, whatever. You are standing over an underground stream or river, which is why the city is constantly repairing the street, and that's where the trolley tracks were.
Here's a point of information for you. Well, more than one. One sensationalist reporter claimed an NYPD source (lie #1) pointed out they had to use 3 sets of handcuffs on Harvey because he was so fat (lie #2). Harvey's back and arms are muscle bound. He's been that way since a teenager. The only way to bring his arms together behind him for handcuffs, is to break them. Harvey surrendered himself at 1 Police Plaza, and he was not cuffed. He was not a threat to anyone, and he was treated with respect for his physical welfare, served coffee and water for his meds, and a plate of Danish as he sat at a desk in a private office instead of a holding cell. At the courthouse, he was handed off to court officers. Just before entering the courtroom, he was cuffed, SOP, until the judge ordered the cuffs removed. For all of about 15 minutes. First motion from his defense team, again SOP. They used three set of cuffs so as not to discomfit Harvey, not because he was so fat. No NYPD officers were involved or observed his being cuffed. Anyone in the arraignment court could have seen that they used three sets of cuffs, one for each wrist, a third to connect the other two, with plenty of latitude for movement. Get the idea?
