Emmet Flood, attends classified DOJ briefing-White House lawyer for Russia investigation

They should have thrown Floods sorry ass out of the building as the first item on the agenda.

From what I have heard from former fed prosecutors, the only way that Flood could legally be present would be if 45 was indicted.

Neither Flood nor Kelly were present as I understand it.

Not that it really needs to be said, but...

"It is completely inappropriate for a lawyer representing a subject of the investigation to attend the congressional oversight meeting in which nonpublic information about the investigation was revealed. What possible legitimate purpose could his attendance have served?"

-Renato Mariotti

No, it most certainly needs to be said. The cultists need to be constantly reminded how far from reality their cult leader is taking them. We can not continue to accept the unacceptable. Ugly precedents are being set every day.

It sickens me to watch American democracy, which we all grew up with great reverence toward and pride of, being dismantled day by day in front of us. We laud those who are willing to serve and willing to die for our country, just to allow that cowards of the Republican party serving in our legislature to cower under their desks because they lack the courage to stand up to Trump and do what they know is right. .

I am finding the McConnel's and Ryan's and associates to be despicable Americans and despicable human beings.

Sorry, I better not fall off this soap box. Its a long fall.

All anyone can do at this point is hope that Mueller and Rosenstein are smart enough to somehow withhold any info trump lawyers can use.

And by next week we will have another act, inflames the base, Hannity and his type will go on another long attack.
Clearly Rudy knew that they would get a briefing from their water boy Nunes. Just noted on CNN, Nunes has raised about 2 mil in the past 6 weeks.

Kelly has clearance, and was IMHO there to keep things from going to far off the rails?

You are giving Kelly far too much credit

Flood is a long time DC attorney, he should know better --- the reason he was there further lets me know the fix is in

Nunes is running a campaign where is desperate to save his house seat.

Seriously does trump’s base ever get outrage fatigue?

Oh, I know, that was precisely my argument on Sunday when everybody said, "Hey, relax, Rosenstein passed it on to the IG so it's all good now."

Wrong. Trump has infinity hand grenades he can and will throw into the investigation.

I think Rosenstein is walking a high-wire. Up to this point, he seems to be doing it well. My guess is that he gave them just enough juice to satisfy them to make them settle down for a few weeks, but stopped well short of laying out the whole story.

He won last time by 26 pts

I have seen reports that they were there at the start of the meeting, may have made some comments, and then left. Why were they even there for that when they are NOT part of the Congressional Gang of Eight?

Apparently it was at the noon meeting.

how would a fact finding inquiry 'go off the rails'? not saying it isn't possible, i just don't see where/why/how that would occur

Partisanship.

*Flood did not stay for the entirety of either meeting, leaving shortly after they were convened. It was not immediately clear why he was present.

"Neither [Chief of Staff John Kelly] nor Mr. Flood actually attended the meetings but did make brief remarks before the meetings started to relay the President's desire for as much openness as possible under the law," press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.*

how would kelly then be expected to handle that?

I do not know, I do not know why he was there? Only thing I can think of is that Nunes/Other Repubs were not getting all they asked for, and Kelly was to tell them, that is all you are getting.

The same one that gets upset when called a liar

I do not know, but he was just recently hired. IMHO this stinks to high heaven. Just wait for the leaks to run like a river.

I'm pretty sure the meeting was a bust or we would have heard something by now.
