DOJ asks watchdog to probe Trump campaign surveillance claims

I love how all you liberals are assuming that an investigation into this will turn up nothing.

Me too! They have already decided that everything is on the up-n-up and their side did nothing wrong.

If the result is bad tor them, it's gonna be hillaryious!

That may or may not be true, but that doesnt alter the fact that you guys on the left have no interest in investigating potential wrongdoing by people in the FBI and Justice, but believe every CT about Trump that comes along and believe every member of the Trump campaign is a criminal.

That comment is too hyperbolic and too partisan to have any positive potential.

I love how all you liberals are assuming that an investigation into this will turn up nothing.

"Nothing" as in the two top levels of the FBI being wiped out as an unintended result of the Mueller investigation.

Wouldn't surprise me given what happened with the Obama IRS abusing government positions to try and squash non-profit conservative groups.

Trump haters, ya must copy and paste those same old rebuttals.
You are the type that prefers, hangem, bury them and hold the trial later.
Me I will wait for the report

Not at all. I prefer facts and evidence. Once we have that, have a trial.

Next we will have an Enemies List. Last one did not work out so well

What "enemies list"?

And they take time to round up evidence and lay charges. Clearly Mueller is a fast mover.

This isn't about Mueller. However, his investigation will be the victim of collateral damage.

I think you may be disappointed.
What did he set in motion a year ago?

Obama's Congress set into motion the IG investigation. Trump set into motion the carefully planned actions, based on timing, that will result in multiple indictments being served on former Obama administration officials.

Of course, Trump didn't do it all himself. He had help from the current leadership in the DOJ, the FBI and other agencies.

He also had help from the idiots who are the targets of this investigation. I mean, the last two nonsense stories they leaked played right into Trump's hand.

1. They admitted spying on the Trump campaign.

2. They virtually outed the guy who did the spying.

This caused ordinary people to investigate and find out that Obama's people actually PAID this guy big sums of money to do his work.

This gave Trump the excuse he needed to formally order this investigation (that has already been going on).

I don't think anyone was planted in the Trump campaign. If anything, the FBI probably discovered a few "suspects" in Trump's midst who were up to no good and had enough on them to convince them to become an FBI informant. That is very possible. But a plant, nah!

Good, it has to be done. Everything besides the Mueller investigation is probably overreactions and distractions, but one way or another, this anti-DOJ/FBI Deep State campaign infiltration conspiracy has to stop.

Lol ! It has to stop ? Its just starting !

IG Horrowitz report on the FBIs and DOJs handling of the Clinton E-mail investigation hasn't even been released yet, but no worries, it should be out later this month

And the reason the " Anti-DOJ / FBI Deep State infiltration conspiracy " is gaining so attention is because unlike the Trump / Russia Collusion narrative there's real evidence to back it up

Last week, after 18 months of denying the Trump campaign was spied on the NYTs writes a article detailing the existence of extensive covert surveillance and the existence of a paid FBI informant

During the height of the 2016 election, and without a shred of evidence, the FBI opened up a counter intelligence investigation against the opposition campaign and used the powers normally reserved for spying on foreign adversaries on Americans who just so happened to be their Political adversaries.

Almost immediately after the election, the FBI coordinated with the CIA to leak politically damaging information in a effort to take down a duly elected President.

Lol !... Sorry if this massive scandal is pulling focus away from the Trump hate fest circle jerk, but truth is its not going anywhere

I agree. There was nobody planted in the Trump campaign.

Well, the NYT already more or less confirmed that in fact it did happen, but according to the NYT it was done only to "protect" the Trump campaign ... ha ha ha.

In fact, the "plant" was a professional with a history:

NYT 1983 – […] An operation to collect inside information on Carter Administration foreign policy was run in Ronald Reagan’s campaign headquarters in the 1980 Presidential campaign. […] it involved a number of retired Central Intelligence Agency officials and was highly secretive.

The sources identified Stefan A. Halper, a campaign aide involved in providing 24-hour news updates and policy ideas to the traveling Reagan party, as the person in charge.

I agree. There was nobody planted in the Trump campaign.

Correct; Halper was not a member of the Trump campaign ... but he mingled with them and offered his "service and expertise" to members of the Trump campaign.

Again, way too partisan a post to be of any value. The fact that you imagine "real evidence" in the investigation that the president likes and no evidence in the investigation that he doesn't like when in reality none of us knows anything about either investigation makes clear that you've prejudged the outcome. That's that "law and order" you support, right?

Jmo, but this "investigation" might backfire on 45 and his family, the campaign and result in an end to the POTUS by the Sept. 1 Rudy claimed Mueller gave him.

The NYT did not report that someone was planted in the president's campaign. It said that an FBI informant met with three of the campaign's employees.

Haven't been keeping up with current events ?

The informant, the PAID informant was Stefan Halper, a American Professor who teaches in Britain and who has been used by the CIA before.

According to the NYTs, the FBI hired Halper to basically go undercover and make contact with and gather information on Papadoulos and Page.

Now why didn't the FBI just send agents to interview Papadopoulos and Page ?

Obviously, they didn't want Trump or anyone else to find out that the Obama FBI was spying on the opposition candidate and campaign at the height of the US election

Halper had to get Papadopulos to England first, so he offered him 3000.00 bucks to write a paper on a disputed gas field on the Eastern Mediterranian Sea and a free trip to England and Papadopoulos accepted

It was a setup of-course, a pretense to gather information on Papadopoulos and get him talking about the hacked DNC E-mails, which Papadopoulos knew nothing about.

Okay; hence me calling it plant in inverted commas. Professional Informant is good for me. :)

Basically, the FBI sent an informant to members of the Trump campaign to spy on them and report back to the FBI.

You feel better now?!?

Nope- we are willing to wait and see the evidence.
How about you?
Hangem, buryem, and then have the trial seems to be popular with many Spanksters.

That is insane considering it is you guys on the left who have 'hanged and buried' Trump since the day he won the election. I swear, you guys have no self awareness whatsoever.

Jmo, but this "investigation" might backfire on 45 and his family, the campaign and result in an end to the POTUS by the Sept. 1 Rudy claimed Mueller gave him.

Anyone who thinks Trump will lose something or that this will backfire on him has not absorbed the full weight of this story and is in denial about how trump will conduct himself after this day. Trump demanded the DOJ investigate his political rivals and an investigation into himself in order to undermine it, and he instantaneously got nearly all of what he wanted.

The system is failing.

This type of stuff is pretty silly. There's always a wide range of opinions on issues from people in any group; conservatives are no different in their wide range of opinions on any given topic. I've always been of the mindset that if there's something worth investigating then it should go on so everyone can see what's been going on.

No, sorry. There is no 'wide range of opinion' on the left on any issue.

The FBI paid Stefan Halper to meet with Papadopoulos and Page to gather information on them

Halper invited Papadopoulos to England under the pretense of paying him to write a research paper on some disputed oil fields.

Once their Halper pressed Pappadopoulos for information on the DNC hacked server, which Papadopoulos knew nothing about.

It was a set up, and worse instead of just sending a couple of FBI agents, the FBI paid Halper to basically work undercover

Why ? Because they were covertly SPYING on the opposition candidate and campaign at the height of the US election.

How do you feel about the fact that the trump campaign was meeting with Russian agents and have been lying about it every since?
