Trump's warning to Kim Jong-un: make a deal or suffer same fate as Gaddafi

The fact is, this nonsense from Rocket Man is related to the trade talks in Washinton with Chinese Vice-Premier Liu. China is using Rocket Man to put pressure on Trump concerning trade by implying the NK talks are in jeopardy.

But Trump didn't fall for it. Instead, he turned it around on them by...

1. This offer of protection.

2. The implication that Rocket Man could suffer the same fate as Gaddafi.

3. Saying he hasn't heard anything from NK that the talks are canceled and he considers them still on.

4. Saying good things, again, about Chairman Xi.

Now Trumps threats of war, increased sanctions including China closing some of the illegal exports, of which China knew about and tolerated IMHO, with Chinese pressure brought Kim to play his opening to the world, from the Olympics to meeting with SK. Did trump bite, yes, he bit rather hard. In that he screwed the pooch. So yes you may be partially correct on that pint made earlier, but Trumps nutcase statements of war also come into play.

There's a big difference between NK agreeing to put an end to their provocative actions, and them giving up their nukes all together.

The only trade talks happening in Washington is Donald Trump ordering the United States Chamber of Commerce to save and/or create jobs in China in exchange for a sizeable loan to a Trump affiliated resort development in Indonesia.

Maybe, maybe not.

I think Kim was just playing everyone from the beginning, in order to make himself look like the prince of peace when everything fell through.

Look at this way, by going to the Olympics, shaking hands with Moon, and releasing US hostages, he's shown China that he's not above good gestures and compromise. But if Trump comes to the table with no willingness to let Kim keep some of his program, he makes the US look like war mongers that just want to dethrone him.

Well, I’m not sure the US needs Kim to leave that impression. Republican foreign policy in relation to world actors such as himself has pretty much always been do what I say or I’ll cave your head in. Whether we follow through on that has been pretty hit or miss though.

At first, the US and other countries from the west supplied those rebels with arms. Later, we gave them help with air cover and attacks. But it was the rebels who finally took down Gaddafi.

Seems to me that Trump is implying that Rocket Man needs to worry about his own people...especially if other countries give them some help. Kind of put the fear into Rocket Man, eh?

While coming from a position of power and essentially a threat is the only realistic path to get a nation that is hell bent on getting a nuke to give up it's nuclear program. Mentioning Gaddafi was quite possibly the most ignorant thing Trump could have possibly done as Bush essentially did the same thing and Gaddafi acquiesced only to literally take it up the tail pipe and be brutally murdered under the next administration. So yeah, pretty freaking stupid to remind him of that if your goal is for him to denuclearize. The best option is to simply let him have his nuke and forget that they are even there. Every threat he has ever made had the prerequisite of the US attacking them. He simply wants to be able to have a nuclear deterrent in order to ensure his regime is not toppled by outside forces.

He has the only deterrent he needs. China.

Nobody wants to topple him. The leader of NK could have been toppled anytime in the last 60 years or so. Having China as their big brother has been the deterrent.

But yeah...we could just let him have his nuke...and his missiles...and forget him. Until he lobs one over...or at...Japan. Or until he tosses one at Hawaii. If China tells him to.

I don't really think that's a good idea. I like Trump's idea of applying political and economic pressure on China to get them to denuke NK.

Libya gave up its nukes and then what happened? Iraq never had nukes to begin with, what happened there?

Iran has or is close to having nukes and North Korea has nukes -- What happened? sanctions, possible peace deal, more sanctions, but no invasion.

Pakistan has both nukes and tangential terrorist ties -- what happens? we still consider them an ally -- could it be the nukes?

Why? Did North Korea buy weapons from us in the past and we kept the money and didn't deliver?
 
Boy the US right is so dense.. they certainly dont learn from history.

Libya was/is made up of tribes.. that is what took out Gaddafi.. not the US or Europe. Sure the US/Nato helped but they would have not gotten far, if it was not for the various tribes rising up against Gaddafi´s tribe and allies.

Now North Korea has no tribe other than the cult of Kim. How exactly would that work then? Trump is a moron.
