Trump: Report that Obama FBI spied on campaign could be 'bigger than Watergate'

From the article: "Wow, word seems to be coming out that the Obama FBI "SPIED ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN WITH AN IMBEDDED INFORMANT," the president tweeted in reference to a National Review report published last week"

According to Trump's earlier claims and what he is saying now -- it seems Obama actually did spy on Trump -- Shouldn't this essentially make this whole Mueller investigation null and void now? And shouldn't Obama be held accountable in someway for weaponizing the FBI against a fairly elected US president? This may actually be bigger than Watergate.

What a hack article "Obama spied on Trump" and "Obama's FBI". presidents don't run the FBI, they don't run every single organization personally and control every thing they do

Meanwhile, Obama and the FBI kept quiet the investigation into Trump. But somehow Comey decided to talk about Hillary. So if there was bias in the FBI, it was against Clinton

Don't expect the anti-Trumpers to acknowledge this for what it is. They will transition straight from "OMG! Trump lied about Obama administration spying!" to "OMG! Of course Obama administration would spy on Trump!" without even a twinge of shame.

I guess Trump has his blue print in 2020 then. He can have the DOJ gin up an investigation into the Democrat running against him for potential conspiracy with Iran, or North Korea or something. Apparently for the illiberals it really doesn't matter if there was actually a crime, just the suspicion, so why should Trump act any differently?

I think if the standing president's administration used the power of the FBI to divide the country over bogus accusations against a political opponent then EVERYTHING should be made of it. You don't let that stuff slide and maintain a stable democracy.

That'd be like not taking chemo treatment for fear of upsetting the cancer.

First of all, those "bogus accusations" weren't part of the campaign. The best indication we got of them was in late October when unnamed FBI officials said they looked into it and found nothing. Second, how is the FBI supposed to know allegations were "bogus" absent an investigation. The dozens or more contacts between Trump campaign people and Russia weren't fictional - we now know they happened, we know that operatives shopped information on Clinton to Trump officials and they were amenable to receiving it. We know Manafort's many connections, and his money problems. We know Page had suspicions of being a Russian operative years before he joined the campaign. And we know (and the Senate recently agreed) that while these many contacts between Russians and Trump people were going on, Russia was attempting to undermine our elections.

You like to ignore what we know, and there is still much we don't since the Mueller investigation isn't complete. Maybe it will all turn out to be nothing.

Obama isn't a sitting president. Not only can he be indicted, he can be convicted. After the "Russia! Russia! Russia!" **** show is wrapped up, the DOJ needs to go after this hard. This is unacceptable.

The original “report” cited in the MSN article comes from noted wingnut rag The National Review, written by bull**** artist Andrew McCarthy, and takes a lot of predictable liberties with the facts. Shocking indeed.

Why? I thought it was legal to use government agencies like the IRS or the FBI to hurt your opponents. Oh wait it depends if it your party that is corrupt. Blindly supporting your party is why we lost control of our government. Government no longer serves the people but rules the people.

That's what I love about liberals, when one of their idols is criticized the spring into action, frequently dishing out profanity and insults to hide the facts they got zilch to actually rebut the criticism.
First off, President's DO direct the work of the FBI, which is part of the Justice Department which is part of the Executive Branch which the President DOES run. Obama weaponized the IRS to cripple Tea Party and other rightwing opposition during elections, for example. His Attorney General was influential in ****-canning the Clinton investigation - same Justice Department.

So I guess Trump is investigating himself for Russian collusion then? After all he appointed Sessions, Wray, Rosenstein. He even appointed the OGE head that just referred Trump's Cohen payment to Rosenstein for criminal referral.

So let me get this straight: somebody inside the Trump campaign was so concerned or alarmed about what was taking place that this person worked with law enforcement to help their investigation.

And that's supposed to somehow, magically, benefit Trump.
