White House eliminates top cyber adviser post

Perhaps 10 years ago, but not after what we have seen from NK/China/Iran/Russia in the past 3 years or so

What does a cyber advisor do ??

*What is the main purpose of the National Security Council?
The primary role of the NSC is to advise the President regarding integration of foreign, military and domestic policies which relate to national security. It also helps facilitate cooperation between government agencies regarding implementation of such policies.*

https://study.com/academy/lesson/national-security-council-definition-history-members-role.html

The NSC has two senior advisors, why more ??

Duplicate positions is a valid reason, a cyber advisor is unnecessary, the NSC is already in place.

Trump's first national security adviser wuz a guy who was subject to blackmail by Russian intelligence and who sittith at the at the right hand of Putin at the RT dinner. And who got foreign bucks from foreign governments he never reported until the G-Men got on his case. That's of course Flynn who pleaded guilty in federal court in a deal predicated on the largess of the special counsel. It's also why Flynn has been The Songbird since. If Flynn gets locked up he'll lose his 3 stars and pension besides which is why he's turned his coat yet again. This time Flynn is wearing the coat Mueller got for him. We all heard those chants at Flynn the day in December he showed up at the federal courthouse in Washington: "Lock Him Up."

This is of no concern to those over there in Putinland. Youse don't mention it because you need to ignore it if not bury it.

Cyber advisor, Tangmo, cyber advisor, not security advisor.

I haven't claimed anything, I asked you a simple question;

"How is eliminating a duplicate position showing a "lack of interest" ??"

Why did you ignore it ??

Because multiple sources have said that Trump has not even asked our intelligence agencies to combat Russian meddling. Why is that? Is that the job of the President or not?

https://www.defenseone.com/technology/2018/02/trump-has-never-asked-intelligence-chiefs-stop-russian-election-meddling-intelligence-chiefs-testify/145969/

Yes Trump appointed a Russian stooge to the most sensitive job in his administration, but there is nothing to see here .

You and Tangmo want to discuss Flynn start a thread. Don't ya think Cardinal would be disappointed with you attempting to deflect from his thread topic.

Why would a President need to ask the various gov agencies to do their jobs ?? That makes no sense at all.

Funny but I agree, let's get rid of Trump and the Presidency. He's a useless figurehead that is illegally profiting off of his office. Throw him out now.

Alrightynow, thread topic be damned, run with anything cause the thread topic failed. LOL

If you didn't mean NSC then you needed to be specific as to which NSC you were referring to when you wrote NSC in respect of the position of WH cyber adviser. Or maybe advisor. Your reference to NSC brought immediately to mind the turncoat Michael Flynn who'd been national security adviser/advisor and the national security council which of course have in their remit cyber security. The guy in the WH who hasn't any interest whatsoever in the United States having cyber security remains Donald Trump. One could suspect very easily His principal cyber security adviser is in Moscow.

You are the one that claimed the President was not needed. I just agreed.

So you don't think it is Trump's place to put safeguarding our elections as a priority. In fact you would rather he deny it is even a problem. Now that is embarrassing and quite un-American too. No wonder Putin is so emboldened.
There are agencies in place for all of that. What is being eliminated is a redundant series of positions that didnt do a damn thing. For all your whinging and whining and blather and bull**** you ignore the reality that the position existed...was filled...and didnt do a DAMN thing. Hell, until this article was posted you people didnt even know the difference between this position and the ****ing protocol officer.

You people embarrass yourself.

And to you that is valid reasoning for this dumb decision?
Did you REALLY just ask if worthless fabricated positions that dont do anything, that have been proven to be ineffective, and dont have anything to do with the actual JOB of cybersecurity should be done away with?

You people dont even know what you are wetting yourselves over. Its ****ing pathetic watching you.

Again, Flynn is irrelevant to this topic. The NSC advises the President on all national security matters, a cyber advisor is a duplicate position.

You need to find out what you're cheerfully being blithely flippant about....

Trump's national security pick is a cybersecurity hawk

Like Trump, Michael Flynn supports using offensive cyberweapons

Flynn holds strong views on cybersecurity. He’s called U.S. cyber capabilities “underwhelming.”

“We have competitors out there that are rapidly catching up with us,” he said in a speech posted online last year. In 2014, after retiring as a [3-star] general, he started a consulting firm called Flynn Intel Group that specializes in preventing cyber threats for clients.

“It is stunning how often nation-states such as China, Russian or Iran, or transnational criminal organizations, attack our networks,” he said in an interview last December. “It’s something we are frankly not prepared for

Trump is determined to keep it that way.

So is Vladimir Putin btw.

Flynn of course turned out to be subject to blackmail by foreign powers. Not that Russian intelligence and Vlad Him Self would need any blackmail of a natural born turncoat. Flynn now is wearing the coat Mueller got for him. If Flynn gets locked up he'll lose his 3 stars and retirement annuities to include all benefits. Which is why Flynn is singing his tunes in Mueller's offices. Flynn wuz a career intelligence officer who flew south for all seasons.

Now you're making things up, how pathetic.

So you have changed your mind and now think the President should at least pretend to try to stop Russian meddling? That's progress.

What has been eliminated is any semblance of leadership in this important area. And the State Dept. is listening to that void and have not spent one dime of the money allocated for the purpose by Congress. You and Trump must be so proud and Putin must be overjoyed again.

I'm not being blithely flippant, a "cyber advisor" is a redundant position, it's the NSC's job to advise the President on all matters of national security.

What are you babbling about ??

Cyber attackers got the best of us in 2016, ergo we should weaken our cyber defenses. Sound thinking.

Having two people or three at the White House won't do anything to 'weaken our defenses.'

Thank you General Kelley.

Or izzit Leon Panetta? (Is that you, Leon?)

If you were James Baker I'd give you a listen but since you are you I have to stand up to laff so's I don't fall off my chair.

Did you bring your WH organization and flow charts with you or are you simply being brilliant off the top of your head...or from your backside bottom? I rather suspect you are reading off the Putin New Era Efficiency Plan Charts and Diagrams For The White House. The one in Washington.
