North Korea threatens to withdraw from summit with Trump: Report

North Korea is such a tease.

I think all parties are well aware that Trump is willing to deal on American's terms and we are not going to abandon our right to military exercises with our friends. We are not equals. We are seeking a deal so we don't have to "end" NoKo.

But the Left seeks delight in Trump's failure, no matter the consequences.

No, that is BS. No one, well no one sane wants a war in Korea. Trump has been gushing like a love struck school girl, or a guy on his 1st time.

I have a feeling tha Kim is superstitious and the collapse of his test site was a bad omen that freaked him out. Let’s not lose site of the real issues: no nuclear weapons that can fly, no capitalism or freedom too close to communist China, and Kim is still in titular leader as the country modernizes.

The options short of shooting are economic pressures on NoKo and China, including public shaming of China when they are caught cheating. BTW, “Saving face” to China means don’t tell anyone we are cheating.

What gives you the superstitious feeling?

Wasn’t pressure brought to bear regarding the Chinese phone manufacturer? Now the Administration is back-pedaling on those?

Yes, that's exactly why YOU'RE gushing.

All part of the negotiations ... don't know why anybody is even having hysterics about it.

- The joint military exercise has been known to Kim for months. This was nothing new to him.
- Tomorrow he was expected to meet with South Korea.

- Last week Kim met with the Chinese leader for a couple of days.
- Monday we had a trade negotiation delegation from China arrive here. They are supposed to stay for 4 to 5 days.
- Today Kim announces he'll cancel tomorrow's talks with South Korea.

My take: China is using Kim to put pressure on Trump, however, they still haven't realized that for Trump NK/SK is secondary to trade deals.
North Korea will have to wait ... (grin).

Yes, that's exactly why YOU'RE gushing.

No I am not. Earlier threads I wished him success. And I do hope he is.

If NK and SK work out something that includes getting rid of NK nukes and missiles, that will delight America.

btw, SK is taking active part in these military drills. Do you want SK to simmer the **** down, too?

I think it's a safe bet that South Korea will do whatever it can to salvage their talks with the North

Is Trump willing to pull a Reykjavik (hopefully without Reagan's quick offers, we must say)?

I remain skeptical. Bolton would, but I don't know about the President.

A month ago, North and South Korea wouldnt have met. A month ago, the 3 people held by North Korea would never have been released.

Look...I dont trust Lil Kim as far as I can could throw that little tubby bastard and I doubt I could throw him very far. But there is today a shot at something positive happening where a month ago, there wasnt. Who knows how it will turn out. Whats tragic is the number of people so addled by their own hatred that the first thing they go to in EVERY circumstance is **** DONALD TRUMP!!! That's the sad part. Whats comical is that those same people are the ones sitting back saying "golly, can you believe how childish and immature Donald Trump is?"

Announced early hours after cancelling talks, North and South Korea to send delegates to act as a followup and reslution.

- North Korea to send 29 delegates, including Bilinear Issues Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland and National Economic Cooperation Committee (mingyeonghyeop) vice chairman
- Government stance is that NK will attempt power play should US summit continue. Asking to leave Korean peninsula alone to better economic and peaceful respect

How soon before we are back to ‘dotard and rocket man?’

N Korea is not going to give up its nukes. That's not going to happen.

You should preface that kind of statement with, "In my opinion". Fact is, you have no way of know WHAT NK is going to do or not.

Ya, I do. It's a fragile situation, there's a lot of trust building that needs to happen, why people are acting stupid is beyond me.

Out of curiosity, if North and South Korea unified, and South Korean leadership took over, would you be ok with them having the nukes, as an ally of America?

Seems to me that Moon and Trump don't care to appear to be fearful weaklings. Rocket Man will get the message eventually.

As to your question, useless speculation. I don't think they'll unify. China won't allow that to happen.

Well, according to the WH, the military drills are not stopping.

NK knows that Trump is headily invested in the success of talks. He has gone all loopy for KJU.
Trump has also ruminated about removing troops from SK. Not like that was a secret.
Now we must wait and see.

That said, I think KJU will play Trump like a violin.

Yes. Definate case of counting your chickens before the eggs. Trump has been trying to play up his political points and than messed with Iran

But would the rest of the world continue the sanctions if N and S Korea work it out to something other than America's delight?

Maybe the American military should simmer the **** down and let this process happen...unless America benefits too much from having a mega base in S Korea, and would rather see the conflict continue.
I agree that I don't see any harm in belaying military excercise until after the talks. I think it's a benign concession that can made to appease kim

My guess is Kim is putting pressure on the US and South Korea relationship to see how badly each of them wants this to happen. He can say to the world that I have already made a number of peaceful gestures so it's time for these guys make one.

Trump is weak domestically and can barely get anything done, so he trying to score with international policy but he is too desperate. This isn't about what's best for America or the international community. This is all about on guy trying to score some points.

That was a dumb move.

Yep; Kim promised to cough up the 3 guys and he delivered.

A small meaningless gesture given the status of all 3 prisoners. He’s also “ breaking up his nuke site” the same site experts say is now compromised. All he was doing was buying some time while he cut deals with China, anyone that thought he was genuinely coming to the table needs to wake up.

Releasing 3 guys from hard labor camps in North Korea is a small, meaningless gesture?!?

Good grief, man!

Well, we'll wait to see what South Korea has to say. After all it's their country. Although Trump seems need a occasional reminder of that fact.
