I just heard an update. They say she underwent an
embolization to treat a "benign kidney condition."
Renal artery embolization is a procedure primarily performed by interventional radiologists that can be utilized for treatment of renal tumors, both malignant and benign. It has many applications, including pretreatment of renal cell carcinomas prior to planned resection to decrease hemorrhagic complications intraoperatively, treatment of malignant renal tumor in patients who are not deemed suitable surgical candidates, as well as treatment of benign renal tumors and their potential hemorrhagic complications. There are many different techniques. (

I'm still sitting here wondering:
- Why, if the condition is so benign, why not tell us what the specific condition is that militated for the procedure?
- RAE is typically an outpatient procedure, particularly with healthy people, yet Mrs. Trump will be hospitalized for a whole week. [Maybe she just wants to be away from Donald? Certainly, unlike "average" Americans, she can afford to pay for that. LOL. (I don't actually think she'd opt to be in hospital for that reason...The Trumps have plenty of homes she can visit to achieve that end.)]
There is also a genre of renal embolization called "
chemoembolization."
At the end of the day, I feel as though if one, she, wants to keep private the details, fine. Just say something simple and direct like, "The First Lady will be in the hospital. To preserve the First Lady's right to privacy and because she's not a public official, no further details will be disclosed. The First Lady would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for her speedy recovery." Mature people can understand and handle that, many perhaps can even relate to it. On the other hand, if one is going to disclose, then whatever one discloses needs to be complete and accurate.
