A man armed with a knife in Paris has killed at least one person and injured several others before being shot dead by police, according to French media.

The attack on Saturday reportedly took place near the main opera house in the French capital.

The Paris prefecture said a person who carried out the knife attack was overpowered by police, without giving any more details.

Citing sources close to official investigations, AFP news agency said that two people, including the attacker, were killed and several were injured.

There was no immediate information about the suspect's motive.

RIP to those killed. This is still a breaking story, so facts aren't currently known about motive or the severity of injuries.

This story comes on the heels of an investigation in France, which seems to suggest that an ISIS inspired attack last year that killed two police officers in their homes, might have been set up by a female employee at the department where the police officers worked, hinting at a deep infiltration of Islamic terrorist sympathizers into French government.

RIP to those killed.

No sorrow for the millions murdered in the US led illegal invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. How come?

Since ISIS is a creation of the USA led illegal invasion of Iraq and since all crimes that flow from the first supreme war crime, the illegal invasion of a sovereign nation, fall upon the shoulders of the illegal invaders, I guess France should ask for the extradition of the war criminals Bush, Cheney, Colon Powell, Wolfowitz, Bolton, ... .

Wtf does this have to do with people being killed in France?

Bolded the BS....

He explained that. Did you miss it?

No he didn't. You can mourn the loss of these people while also mourning the deaths in Iraq. However, it has nothing to do with this thread.

His point (I don't presume to speak for him. I'm just describing my interpretation.) is that ISIS was formed because of US-initiated wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. ISIS claims to be responsible for the Paris attack. Get it yet?

You don't need to explain me his reasoning. I understand it perfectly. It has zero to do with being sorry that people in France died.

No, you clearly don't understand it because you're still confused about what Iraq and Afghanistan have to do with France. It's not a difficult concept.

The connection is, as always, the stunning hypocrisy!

Have you ever seen a post dedicated to the millions murdered by the USA the main country responsible for the illegal invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and the subsequent creation of ISIS?

Have you ever seen anyone, in any post, express remorse for the tens of millions the USA has murdered in all its myriad illegal invasions?

It's a thread designed to advance the same big lies that the government of Bush/Cheney advanced and subsequent US governments continue to advance with their big lies - the condemnation of Muslims around the world.

All these lies when there has never been any evidence whatsoever to support the Bush/Cheney lies. The same kind of lies that the USA has, throughout its history, used against Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, China, Cuba, Vietnam, Spain, ... .

Again, being sorry for French people dying doesn't mean he wasn't sad about civilians dying in Iraq or anything. Its a bad connection which doesn't make it much of a surprise that you would support it.

Yes I have seen threads about such things. You don't seem to have much experience about how things go around here or how things in reality go either.

Point to where folks have expressed remorse for any of the millions murdered by the US/UK/France/Australia/... in the countries from which some are retaliating, helping the western propagandists fuel the hatred even more.

Both here and in the reality that is the USA - stunning hypocrisy!

Um, what? The claim is that American-led invasions into two Middle Eastern countries facilitated the formation of ISIS in the face of what they viewed as an existential threat. Then ISIS, according to ISIS, stabbed some people in Paris. And your broken brain pattern led you to whatever you just posted above this?

I don't think you get it yet. IS was originally started in the 1990's, with the chief goal of establishing an Islamic State in Jordan. They were linked to the Millennium plot to detonate high powered explosives throughout the United States on December 31, 1999. At this time, the organization was known by a different name in the West.

They also were responsible for the execution of an American diplomat in Jordan, in 2002.

Anyway, long story short, the leader of the group was killed, and ISIS is the eventual result of several morphings, into the large group of **** stains we now call IS.

Do you honestly believe people in America and other nations have not spoken badly about the invasions of Iraq and the killings of many civilians? You can't actually be that ignorant of reality...

Why do you keep repeating the same **** over and over and over? I am not asking for you to explain what his wrong assumption is about ISIS. I am stating for the 100th time that you can discuss the death of innocent civilians while at the same time not bringing in the deaths of other civilians in other countries. Get it yet? Probably not, you don't seem to understand much.

The claim is incorrect. The organization began in 1999.

ISIL originated as Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in 1999, which pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda and participated in the Iraqi insurgency following the 2003 invasion of Iraq by Western forces at the behest of the United States.

Do you honestly believe you can find a thread where people have "spoken badly" [wtf does that mean??] about the ILLEGAL invasion of Iraq?

Here’s Ron Paul: “Under last week’s authorization bill, the president [Obama] would have authority to train 5,000 fighters in Saudi Arabia for insertion into the civil war in Syria. … That Saudi Arabia is considered a suitable place to train Syria’s future leaders must be some kind of sick joke. While ISIS was beheading two American journalists … the repressive [US-backed] Saudi theocracy was beheading dozens of its own citizens… If we want to stop radical terrorists from operating in Syria and Iraq, how about telling our ally Saudi Arabia to stop funding and training them? For that matter, how about the US government stops arming and training the various rebel groups in Syria and finally ends its 24 year US war on Iraq [in which the USA has murdered some 3.3 million Iraqis].”

Yes you can, and you do, [generic 'you'] revealing the incredible hypocrisy. For the umpteenth time.
