Trump White House axes Nasa research into greenhouse gas cuts - BBC News

President Donald Trump's administration has quietly axed US space agency Nasa's monitoring system into greenhouse gases, a US journal has revealed.

The Carbon Monitoring System (CMS), a $10m (£7m)-a-year project which remotely tracks the world's flow of carbon dioxide, is to lose funding.

Now I'm convinced that Tillerson was right when he called Trump a moron. I think he was just being kind.

What does it mean that he did it quietly? The implication is that it was done secretly which I'm not seeing.

Also isn't it congress that writes the budget, not trump

That's not NASA's job anyway, may the EPA or NOAA. Time for them to worry about space.

The renowned scientist speaks. All is now well with and in the universe.

That was a waste of money, anyway. Good for him!

I think I see another dandy example blooming of a society illustrating its capacity to conduct difficult conversations.

But can you think in whole thoughts?

I have no problem with this. NASA is about flight and space. Not carbon emissions caused by humans. There are other agencies that are more suited to that. NASA could help by putting the satellites up and maintenance of said satellites, but for analyzing the data other agencies are better suited.

What's that second word in the acronym "NASA"? Maybe that will help clear things up for you.

That, and who is it that coordinates all our government's satellites...including the ones that the EPA and NOAA use to track our weather and atmospheric chemistry? Just wonderin'....

You really ****ing don't know anything about their mission do you? "What's the second word in the acronym?" Is that all you've got?

Oh the only thing we worry about is if we can hitch a ride from Russia.
We have no space program, however the top one percent got their tax cuts and the rest of us are waiting to be trickled on.
Thanks to Obama we have a booming economy, it is time to pay debts and invest, not cut and pay the already wealthy.

The whole point of this exercise by The Donald is to further remove the U.S. from the Paris climate deal.

You really ****ing don't know anything about their mission do you? "What's the second word in the acronym?" Is that all you've got?

That's all I needed to ask - as with all other federal agencies, the name describes at least to some extent the mission. Or is the acronym too hard for you to look up?

But that is not happening. This is politics not science

So then you dont know either.....

Making new plane designs is something that NASA has been doing since its inception. New plane designs help with understanding aerodynamics. New designs could help in understanding how to better get out of our atmosphere and into space.

But that is not happening. This is politics not science

Blame Obama for that. If he hadn't tasked NASA with studying greenhouse emissions in the first place and instead tasked the correct agencies then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

STRATEGIC GOAL 1: EXPAND HUMAN KNOWLEDGE THROUGH NEW SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES.
Goal Statement
NASA’s enduring purpose is scientific discovery and exploration for the benefit of the United States and humanity.

It is best not to claim others "don't know anything" when you are clearly not informed on the topic...

Man, some one should tell NASA, because they think otherwise:

Can you document your claim that they are only about space and flight?

Do you now blame Trump for not allocating the money to the right agencies? Say it....just say it. LOL
