Outrage over death of young French mother after ambulance call mocked - BBC News

A recording of an emergency service operator mocking a young mother, who died hours after her call was ignored, has sparked outrage in France.

Naomi Musenga, 22, called Strasbourg's ambulance service with severe stomach pain and said: "I'm going to die".

"You'll definitely die one day, like everyone else," the worker replied.

Unfortunately for a lot of people, this sort of thing happens all too frequently. Similarly, the local 911 dispatcher failed to alert enough fire units to respond to a house fire & people died.

Does it break any laws?

This is all ridiculous,,,,with the amount of abuse that takes place of the Emergency Services this sort of thing is going to happen. Did this woman ever bother to say that she was throwing up blood? I tend to doubt it, I think all they got was "I am in pain, I am going to die" which is not something to take seriously normally, people say that all the time, almost never are they right.

Translation by Google:
- "Yes hello !"
- Hello ... Help me, ma'am ...
- Yes, what's going on?
- Help me ...
- Well, if you do not tell me what's going on, I hang up ...
- Madam, I have a lot of pain ...
- Yes, well, you call a doctor, eh, from okay? That's it, you call SOS Doctors.
- I can not.
- Can not you? Oh no, you can call the fire department, but you can not ...
- I'm going to die.
- Yes, you will die, certainly, one day, like everyone else. You call SOS Doctors, it's 03 88 75 75 75, okay?
- Please, help me ma'am ...
- I can not help you, I do not know what you have.
- I have a lot of pain, I have very bad pain.
- And or ?
- I have a very bad stomach (...) and badly everywhere.
- Yes, well, you call SOS Doctors on 03 88 75 75 75, that's it, that I can not do it for you. 03 88 75 75 75. If a doctor sees you, or else you call your doctor, okay?
- Okay.
- Goodbye."

Apparently we know that she had called the fire dept first, and they had no interest...I assume that this call had been transferred over from the Fire Dept.

Apparently we also know that she did not in fact call who she was told to call, someone else did it hours later.

Reportedly only 3% of the calls are deemed worthy of sending the ambulance.....
