Keith Ellison sports 'I don't believe in borders' T-shirt

Seriously?

Yes, seriously.

A. It doesn't reflect the entire party
B. It doesn't even necessarily mean 'borders' in a concrete sense, and can be just as figurative as the word can be in English.

Mountain, meet molehill.

The only ones who care are those who are trying to make this something it's not, and the policy of the Democratic Party is not open borders.

It is hard to find any desire to deport those foreign nationals that entered or remained in the US illegally unless they commiited some other (serious?) crime in the official demorat immigration policy stance. There appears to be no difference between a foreign national with legal (official US government?) permission to enter or remain in the country and a foreign national that simply wants to stay in the US without any such legal permission - both are simply referred to as immigrants.

Democrats will continue to work toward comprehensive immigration reform that fixes our nation’s broken immigration system, improves border security, prioritizes enforcement so we are targeting criminals - not families, keeps families together, and strengthens our economy.

Democrats know the importance of our country’s history as a nation of immigrants. We honor our fundamental values by treating all people who come to the United States with dignity and respect, and we always seek to embrace — not to to attack — immigrants.

Yeah, whatever.

The shirt might as well have said, "F*** YOU, Steinles"

Ellison should next wear a shirt that says "I'm an idiot" because that's what he is for advocating Open Borders.

Ellison didn't say he wants to eliminate the US's borders. He said he doesn't believe in borders. I don't either. .

Mmmm, okay....
There is no such thing as "open borders". Never was, never will be. That's a term that the fear mongering right wing media invented. No one advocates for "open borders".

That military intervention, and they are justifiable.

Those are war crimes, the end purpose to steal others wealth. The US is no better than common street thugs, though they are better organized like the Mafia. So much for being "a shining city on a hill". It's as cheap and tawdry and as phony as Las Vegas. All lights and no substance.

I consider it a s-t-r-e-t-c-h to include the Washington Examiner as MSM.

Keith Ellison, a Muslim, personifies a Far Left Faction in the DNC. Tom Perez, current Chair of the DNC, has steered the party in a more centrist direction.

Perez barely beat far leftist Elliison out for the Chair of the DNC. That should tell you something about where the Democratic party is and how far it has to go to come back to something more appealing to the voter.

I’d support an open border with Canada, try it at least, no problem. You rarely ever hear about a Canadian sneaking across the border and committing crimes. Same goes for Mexico, right after they stop.

So, his constituents should vote him out in November if they're bothered by this. He's one Congressman among many. And he's pandering to people - as they all do.

Oh but when Trump did his pandering, it was different and he should resign, be impeached or removed from office.

Okay? Thanks for sharing your opinion on that. If you want Trump impeached for pandering, then you should contact your Congressional rep.

Must have been Perez's best friend that wrote that Wikipedia article. I haven't seen one move from him that could be labeled a "move in the centrist direction".

The guy can wear any t-shirt he wants. It's not a big deal. I used to have a t-shirt that said, "My gun has killed less people than Ted Kennedy's car." Ellison is an idiot. I am glad when idiots expose themselves. It's easier to weed them out.

Hope the RNC sent him a Thank-you card. :lamo

I think the DNC should send Ellison on an all expenses paid vac-trip with Hillary on her next book tour. :lamo

What absolute gibberish. Nonsensical bull****.

It comes from The Communist Manifesto:

The Communists are further reproached with desiring to abolish countries and nationality.
The working men have no country. We cannot take from them what they have not got. Since the proletariat must first of all acquire political supremacy, must constitute itself the nation, it is, so far, itself national, though not in the bourgeois sense of the word. National differences and antagonisms between peoples are vanishing gradually from day to day, owing to the development of the bourgeoisie, to freedom of commerce, to the world market, to uniformity in the mode of production and in the conditions of life corresponding thereto. The supremacy of the proletariat will cause them to vanish still faster. United action, of the leading civilised countries at least, is one of the first conditions for the emancipation of the proletariat.

Get what? That a major US Political party doesn't believe in America anymore? Oh that's quite ****ing clear.

I think its a much more compelling argument that it is the Republicans that don't believe in America anymore, exhibit A being the last general election, but that is a thread in itself.

I'm not a liberal but I'd note a nation is people. A country, a government, requires borders but people don't.

What absolute gibberish. Nonsensical bull****.

Please explain what is wrong with what he said. Simply stating something that you don't like as "absolute gibberish. Nonsensical bull****" is not an argument nor even an intelligent retort. Please up your game.

A nation is only nominally defined by its borders; its substantively defined by its people, its culture and its ideals, which no border can contain.

That said, I am not stating that I agree with Ellison, per se, as I have no idea of the context of his statement. However, at face value, it is provocative and worthy of discussion. Simply dismissing it as "nonsensical" is, in itself, nonsensical.

Didn't really think I needed to issue a sarcasm alert for someone who has been posting on a political debate forum for the last six years.
Well, next time I will. Just for you...

So why did you direct your dumb "sarcasm" at me? i didn't call for Trump to be impeached. Next time direct sarcasm at people who would normally be the recipients of a sarcastic comment. That's what adults do.

Why not? Public forum.

Go ahead. Just know that on the public forum, when someone uses sarcasm, they usually understand what they are doing and who they are directing it to, and why it's amusing. Otherwise it fails miserably - as your attempt did.

Free and fair elections are what The United States is all about.

Barely? How about demonstrating that mathematically?

Perez came up a vote short of a clinching majority on the first ballot, then captured 235 of the 435 votes cast on the second.

At every level of government, I agree DEMs need to move toward the Center, commit to Honesty and focus on Pragmatism to win elections. Perez understands this.

The Republicans are facing a primary in West Virginia tomorrow where a convicted felon who was responsible for the deaths of 29 people is leading his two opponents, which will result in a sure loss to Manchin in Novmeber. The GOP better worry about their own problems and not some Congressman wearing a dumb tee shirt.

Again, your abused hatred has marred the conversation, we'll just leave it you are incapable of having a rationale conversation.
