Prosecutors seize on Trump interview remarks in Cohen documents fight

That would be bad for America which makes it a bad idea.....but in any case that is not what we do so it is irrelevant when it comes to Trump.

Having every voter with one vote with equal power is a "bad idea" !?!?!?!?!?!?

Amazing!!!!!!

You're only saying that because Clinton lost. If she had won, you would be calling the EC the best thing since indoor plumbing.

I have been against the EC since I heard about for the first time in the sixth grade.... and that was back when JFK was running.

Here we go again! The same crap about the Electoral College. The so called ancient relic is prescribed by our Constitution. President Trump won with 306 electoral votes!
Some can not understand our election process. Even after it has been explained many times!!

I understand it better than most having been a teacher of that system for over thirty years.

You make the same conceited insulting presumption that far too many righties make that not SUPPORTING something is not UNDERSTANDING it.

Your talking like a sore loser, however have at it, you and who else can rally up and try and Get Rid of It. Keep us posted how your doing.

I have been against this EC system since I first found about it in the sixth grade in 1960 - and my guy won by it then. So this has nothing to do with any one election.

Clearly you need to get your brain out circulating with more. .....

Stooping to petty personal insults is not debate.

Why are you against having every voter with one vote, all with the same power and weight behind it?

Are you for minority rights????????

Yeah, ok...lol

Cohen's defense is that the material taken is from files all about his client, Trump, and that material can't be looked at because fixer attorney/client privileged. What Trump said on TV that Cohen is a minuscule part of his business -- essentially taking the wind out of Cohen's legal argument.

That's irrelevany to attorney-client privildge.

I have said often that Trump is doing better than I ever hoped and that electing him was the right call. What I am looking for is people admitting that America is in a bad place and that we must do better. Can you admit this?

I think for your point a steaming pile of ape**** would have been a little tiny bit better for the country.

I have been against the EC since I heard about for the first time in the sixth grade.... and that was back when JFK was running.

Me too.

But my understanding was its purpose was to override the voters if they voted for a psycho.

Which I figured was ripe for abuse. So I didn't like it.

Boy was I wrong!

In Federalist 68, Alexander Hamilton explains to the nation that the EC will protect the citizenry against a foreign power attempting to install creature of their own in our highest office.

Nothing was more to be desired than that every practicable obstacle should be opposed to cabal, intrigue, and corruption. These most deadly adversaries of republican government might naturally have been expected to make their approaches from more than one querter, but chiefly from the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils. How could they better gratify this, than by raising a creature of their own to the chief magistracy of the Union? But the convention have guarded against all danger of this sort, with the most provident and judicious attention.

Now think about that for a bit as it applies to the concern in 2016 that Trump was tied to the Russians and working with them to get elected.

Yeah, and? That's no crime and there's no legal standard as to how much business obe has to do with a lawyer before those interactions are protected by attorney client priviledge.

At no point did I suggest this was a crime, nor did I suggest this means nothing is privileged.

You're not understanding. Read the rest of the post instead of just the first line. Trump's statement undermines one legal motion filed by Cohen's team. That's it. That's all the relevance this one statement from Trump has. It doesn't upend the entire defense or anything, and nobody is claiming it does.

I have said often that Trump is doing better than I ever hoped and that electing him was the right call.
Well, some people have high and some have low standards while yet others have none. To think that Trump is doing well or that his election was the right call is a demonstration of a total lack, not only of at least, low standards but that of even common decency. To believe that others who presented themselves as GOP candidates could or would not have done and achieved the very same results betrays in the least a naiveté if not outright ignorance and dishonesty. May I remind you that if you muster a bit of integrity you will admit that Trump has not achieved ANYTHING on his own initiative, he has not proposed a single piece of major legislation, has not inspired one nor has he made any progress in uniting the nation. ON the contrary he has only managed to further divide while also embarrassing not only the office which he hols but the nation as a whole. While it IS true that since Trump became President there have been positive results, none can be demonstrably attributed to a single specific deed by Trump.

What I am looking for is people admitting that America is in a bad place and that we must do better.
Is it? This reminds me of Dickens' opening to the "A Tale of Two Cities" "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way"

So just how bad do you think is the situation and what makes it so bad?

Can you admit this?
I will admit that we as individuals and as a society must always do better no matter what the present situation is. Matter of fact we are obliged to do so if we want to present ourselves as a nation that cares not only about ourselves and our personal powers but as one who cares about how we leave it to posterity and if we are to maintain the role of leadership instead of laughing stock.

Some people have different standards, we know about and care about different things from you, and if you were civil and smarter you would listen to my ideas rather than instantly without asking a single question proclaim them for all to be garbage, no point in arguing about your claim either, just proves that everyone else is beneath you.

Your education is both your fault and your problem.

BE BETTER is always my advice.

Ahhh...American Carnage!!!!! Eat my shorts, they're tastier than that Trump BS you're regurgitating.

You have said many, many, uninformed and underinformed things.
The 2016 Federal Reserve SCF report states that in 1989 the bottom 90 percent of households owned
34 percent of all U.S. assets and by 2016 that percentage dropped to less than 23 percent
And that the top one percent now own 38 percent of all U.S. assets and the next 9 percent of households
own 38.6 percent of all U.S. assets. So, Trump comes into office with the top ten percent owning
77 percent of all U.S. assets and Trump and repub. house/Senate reps school US that a tax cut primarily
benefiting corporations and the top ten percent who own most of the stock in those corps. will
somehow benefit the 90 percent who own an alarmingly shrinking percentage of all assets.
Insisting that a massive tax cut primarily going to the few who all ready own 77 percent of all assets, will THIS
TIME somehow benefit the 90 percent who on average, already own very little.
I hear there is a guy in D.C. selling unicorns to rubes out of the backdoor of a government
owned mansion @ 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. His appointee is selling dirty air and water
out of a DC lobbyist's town house!

You seriously need to take some time to read some of my content before trying to talk to me, because this is just insulting.

I am a member of the Rebellion who regularly rails against the FAILED INTELLIGENTSIA! as I claim the global economy as we have it was a con perpetrated on corrupted by them governments intended to enrich them at my expense....and OH BY THE WAY we have done so much so wrong that BIG PAIN IS COMING! and a part of that will be the global order collapsing into depression and failed governments, likely for decades, and OH BY THE WAY people to include the elite tend to be so weak and stupid now that this is really going to hurt and this is likely going to take a long time to come out of...to whatever is next......likely supervised primarily by the Chinese.

You also need to know that I have a Lifetime Permanent Record of being right more often than the average bear.

Which makes assholes at DP trying to tell me how stupid I am an act of comedy.

BE BETTER

I argue that I know about deeper layers of the onion of truth than you do, do to a lifetime of study, and that furthermore if you knew what I know you would likely agree with me......so you should try to listen and learn.

It's your life, you will do what you do and regardless of what you do I will still know what I know and I will as well retain my Permanent Record.

I am, in fact, far smarter and more perceptive than you. I know far, far more than you do on every conceivable subject. (except for ancient Macedonian basket weaving techniques, never could get the hang of that) I am older, wiser, and more experienced in everything. It is you who should listen to me.

This makes no sense on any level. It doesn't matter whether the election is direct or not, it's still a republic. Democracy in the founder's eyes, was direct democracy, that is, it did not involve representatives at all.

Some of their reasons for the EC where historically based: the insistence of slave states that wanted to count their slaves even though they could not vote (i.e. the three-fifths compromise gave them more presidential electors than their voting population alone would have given them) and the lack of effective and speedy mass media to keep the general population informed.

It's a relic.

you need to read the founders...try federalist 10 and 40

Madison states America is a republican form of government and not a democrat form.

article 4 section 4 of the u.s. constitution ---------------> The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

if america had been created a democracy as it would have been a democratic form.

the u.s. was created a "mixed government"[ federalist 40} republic , based on the roman model, rome was not a democracy.

the house was the only 1 single element of democracy in American government of the founders

the senate was not elected by the people nor is the presidnet, and only the people who paid taxes and owned property could vote.

your 3/5 clause note is false...3/5 is about representation and taxes, the slave states wanted slaves to count as 1, not 3/5

The EC does not make the difference yo think it makes and no the founders were not Gods and got some aspects wrong or what worked then is not valid now.

iam sorry you don't like the constitution, but it is what it is...its the law!
