Former F.B.I. director James Comey’s book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” has dominated headlines for more than a week, and became an instant blockbuster, selling more than 600,000 copies in all formats during its first week on sale.

Mr. Comey’s publisher, Flatiron Books, has ordered multiple reprints to meet demand, and now has more than a million copies in print.

I guess there is a big demand for the truth during the days of The Donald.

At a look event that Comey appeared at, a copy of the book was included with the purchase of a ticket.

Or that America eats up drama drama drama. Which is true, which is how we got the Reality-TV President in the first place.

I doubt all of those sales were individuals buying his book. It would be interesting to see the sales number broken down by purchaser category. Wouldn't be the first time that friends of a political figure helped that person out in such a manner.

I'm planning to buy 2-3 copies a) to contribute to the fund for his coming legal battles read 'wrongful termination, obstruction of justice [Trump], etc, b) to have for my own library, and c) to gift to my radical right sister-in-law. Her politics are frozen at Attilla the Hun.

How many people do you think were at the book event? 100,000? 600,000? I'm sure the info is available somewhere.

For the truth?
Hilarious!
For controversial information. That is all.

Right, because Trump is soooo honest and misunderstood.

No, not nearly that many. Of course, I didn't imply that all 600,000 books were sold because of that event.

With the left wrongly interpreting things the way they want to, it isn't a matter of him being misunderstood, but of the left making false assertions.

At a look event that Comey appeared at, a copy of the book was included with the purchase of a ticket.

That's common and is legitimately counted as a book sale for each copy purchased. That's basically the whole idea behind authors doing book tours - they appear in lots of places which commonly but not always require attendees to purchase a copy of the book. That's how book stores make money on those deals. For someone famous like Comey with lots of people interested in hearing him speak, a bookstore would be almost negligent in not requiring a book purchase as the price of admission.

The way authors and publicists sometimes ILLEGITIMATELY boost book sales is through straw buyers who purchase the book in bulk, say 10,000 copies, and then warehouse them or give them away later as part of some promotion. The early sales (if not caught) boost the early week's sales, which puts them on the "best seller" lists, and then being on the "best seller" list is a valuable PR tool. "Best Selling Author_______ here to talk about his Best Selling book_____, number 7 on the NYT Best Seller list!" etc. The 'best seller' lists prohibit that kind of thing and try to detect and then remove the effect of those straw purchases.

Yup; just look at the recent one that was also brought up as 2(!) threads on this board: "Mulvaney said lobbyists can buy him"

Rofl...so hilarious. Have fun spending your $$ on a scam book driven out of pettiness. The only thing this thing has shown is that Comey is just as petty of a person as the President is, that everyone rails against.

Thanks for the info.

I plan on purchasing a copy. It will be refreshing to read the unvarnished thoughts of James Comey regarding "Mafia Don" Trump.

You're not going to get the truth from The Donald. He's a habitual liar.

Because Trump tells the truth so much, yes?

That's true. Can we get info on how many straw purchases were made of Comey's book? Gotta be out there somewhere.

They weren't. Most were sold via prep-order on Amazon. That's how people who can still read buy new books these days.

That's a sad attempt at a dig. Can't you do better?

Trump committed obstruction of justice at least twice with Comey, once when he asked him to let the Flynn investigation 'go', and again when he fired him for not complying.

Obstruction of justice
Obstruction of justice is defined in the omnibus clause of 18 U.S.C. § 1503, which provides that "whoever . . . . corruptly or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, influences, obstructs, or impedes, or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice, shall be (guilty of an offense)."

Not hard to prove with Comey/'s testimony backed up by his memoranda.
