So glad they caught him. After reading the article, I'm not sure why he wasn't already in a nut house. Agree that the father is an accessory. I hope the parents of the slain sue him silly.

Has anyone said if this was a racial shooting?

I would say at the very least, the father is going to be sued. But I think there needs to be some criminal charges. He knew for some time that his kid was mentally unstable. The government took the kids guns away, gave them to the father and told him to keep them away from his kid. Explicitly knew his kid was unstable, explicitly knew that he was not allowed to have guns. He gave his son the guns back, his son killed people with them. There is certainly some criminal accountability there.

I don't understand why the government is not able to keep the guns, until if possible, the person can be found mentally stable to own them again. It seems ridiculous that they had to give the father the guns back. Seems like more failures of the government just like in Florida. And yet some will want to give them even more powers.

not very often i agree with you guys but heck, it happens. dad is definitely accountable

When your kid honestly thinks Taylor Swift is stalking him and hacking into his Netflix account, it's time for some serious intervention. This kid needed some serious help long ago.

Thus far, that's how it has been reported. There were issues that arose before hand, and the father had taken his son's guns away "when Travis was having problems,". But they were always returned, it seemed, when he was not having problems.

After the incident with the Secret Service, Illinois revoked his state firearms card and confiscated his weapons, giving them to his father. It is believed that his father returned the guns to him afterwards.

So I guess to be a bit more careful, we should say that if it is true that the father willingly and knowingly returned the guns to his kid, then he should bear some criminal responsibility for this situation as well.

Yeah im a little hesitant to condemn the father without knowing more. The kid of stole them back and ild also like to know what conditions the court gave his father custody of the guns. What conditions did they set in order for them to be returned.
