Michael Cohen, the embattled lawyer for President Donald Trump, has dropped his lawsuit against BuzzFeed over the media organization's publication of a dossier that contained lurid allegations about the president.

Cohen has denied parts of the dossier, a 35-page document compiled by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, in which he is mentioned, particularly details about his wife and her father and claims that Cohen had traveled to Prague.

Even a lawyer as dumb as Cohen knows that a frivolous lawsuit will only delay the inevitable for a short period of time. Mueller has the evidence that Cohen DID meet with Russians in Prague, as stated in the Steele dossier.

The lawsuit against Fusion GPS, which originally funded the dossier for a Republican opponent before the dossier was bought by Hillary Clinton, has also been dropped.

There's only two ways to really look at this. One is that Cohen knows information will come out proving his case wrong, i.e. proving the dossier sound. The other is that he simply is dropping this because he doesn't have the time or resources to pursue it. In other words, his legal problems are just that bad. Either way, this looks bad for him.

It goes to reason that if Cohen had it, now Mueller does.

Perhaps, or maybe it is the best way to get it out of the Press instead of following a path that would keep it in the Press.

This is interesting. I'll have to watch the news later to get more info, but I think this is a pretty serious development.

The way I read it is that he probably never had a case to begin with and that this was just his usual way of bullying people. However, now that he's the subject of a criminal investigation he's just decided he doesn't have the time or energy to pursue it. I have little doubt that if he felt he had grounds for pursuing the libel charge he would have stuck it out.

His suit claimed the dossier was false, and he can't risk testifying under oath about the allegations in the dossier. He also can't risk testifying under oath about Stormy Daniels.

I think it's more a prelude to him flipping for Mueller.
