I sometimes think Canadians have the right idea keeping HM as head of State. If Trump just had a smidgen of self sacrifice, and dedication too duty as she has, he would not be in the mess he and his party are now finding themselves.
Largely, Liz is a ceremonial thing. Our "head of state" is the Governor General, also mostly ceremonial and constitutionally limited. I am not sure that royalty makes much of a difference; I believe ours is a much more flexible and open system. The kind of corruption that goes on there cannot happen here because of one thing, a 90 minute segment of every Parliamentary day called "question period". It is where members of the government, from Prime Minister to Public works face intense questioning from the opposition about ANYTHING government; one dollar goes missing MP's can haul the government over the public coals, and do.
Members are bound by a rule where to "deliberately mislead parliament" means they lose their seat. Period
What I also note of difference, few people are committed party members here, and governments are easy to change. And sooner or later, every government forgets the one rule of Canadian politics that must never be broken; don't lie to the voter.
