Trump 'will walk out' if North Korea talks not fruitful - BBC News

US President Donald Trump says that if his planned talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are not fruitful he will "walk out".

At a joint news conference, he and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe said maximum pressure must be maintained on North Korea over nuclear disarmament.

Tough talk designed to soften up the Nork dictator? A threat? Where's your 'hopeful diplomacy', Donald?

Ol' white eyes of the very red skin and forked tongue and the MIC and the NeoCons don't want peace. I believe they are there to make sure South Korea is unable to negotiate its' own Peace with North Korea. South Korea watched the mouth war between Trump and Kim and noticed that if a war breaks out it's 10 to 20 million dead Koreans, no Americans. The picture was clear and close to home, don't ya' konw? Any South Korean that can't even put 2 plus 2 together realizes they need to control the loop and prevent a war. The MIC sees big profits and the NeoCons see unilateralism and pressure on China. I think the USA is the spoiler in the Peace Negotiations.

you mean Trump will pull out? There are PLENTY of women that have already experienced that & they weren't married to him.

It's ALL 'reality' TV to Trump, even when it comes to porn ..........

An unnamed Canadian diplomat is saying that Kim is merely being polite in meeting Trump. They have already worked out a framework for future talks between North and South.

I believe that with China, Canada and others working in the background, the two Koreas are headed for reconciliation....it's time for Washington to get the **** out of the way, reclaim their 100 million land mines and go home to fix their own problems

Sure Trump says this....we dont know that he will win the game but we know that he understands the game.....he is goading The Cheese Eater with "Impress me or go home".

EDIT: The meaning: I am not like those other guys, I am better, be ready.

You do realize North Korea invaded the south, killed millions in a war of conquest, got their asses handed to them and now have the most paranoid dictatorships in history... Right? ANd that paranoid dictatorship has been the roadblock to peace ever since.

You got a link to any of that?

We get a lot of talk radio here. CBC has been hard on the Korean story for many months now. Most Americans are unaware of the fact that the two parties have been talking on and off for years. This is the first time the North has been so calm and quiet about Trump. He started with the usual bashing and hard line, he actually said "I have a button too and mine is bigger!"
I think it was at this point that Kim (whose entire life has been spent educating and preparing to lead the country) figured Trump should be ignored and has ever since.
I believe we are about to see Trump side-stepped as the Chinese and others walk these two parties down the aisle.

One thing very important people are missing.....Kim offered the branch of peace, not the other way around.

One thing that Cuba, Canada, and North Korea have in common. All three have foiled an American invasion.

What right did the US have in invading and getting into a civil war? Because you are a so-called democracy you have a right to shove it down people's throats? Or do not realize that some people WANT totalitarian government.

BTW, neither North Korea nor China is "communist".

How did North Korea "foil an invasion"?

And South Korea appealed to the UN which sanctioned the actions in Korea.

And where did I use the word "Communist"?

Canada was also involved in the Korean war

You would like for Canada to be part of history making, wouldn't you? ha ha
Take your secret Canadian diplomat and go home ... maybe fancy-socks Trudeau has a couple of new socks for you.

We already experienced that during 'Nam: 'pulling out' was deemed to be un-American. Americans seem to traditionally like 'putting it in.'

Leave it to those Trump haters to try and get out there to start trashing what could be a real breakthrough in foreign affairs with N. Korea and damn they just don't want to see him get any credit.

Same with Pompeo confirmation. For the last couple of days we have been seeing all kinds of Democrats find a microphone and declare they could not support Pompeo's confirmation as Sec. of State. They used an array of excuses why from him being pro life to Pompeo not willing to show support of legislation before the senate to protect Mueller from being fired. Then we found out yesterday he was already playing the diplomat in secret over Easter weekend.

Good on Trump.

While I hope for the best, we have seen this before. In about 1999, the North Koreans agreed to suspend development for some relief from the west. A week after the public agreement, they conducted a missile test, violating the agreement.
Personally, I fail to see any sort of logic that would lead Kim to do all the things he has done, spend the money he has spent, PISS OFF THE CHINESE. just to suddenly acquiesce and cave in to US demands. Not freaking likely. I think all of us are being played. He is going to gain power in his country by bringing the leader of the free world to a meeting and telling him to fxxx off. What has he got to lose? He doesn't care if his people starve. He has his paltry may or may not work arsenal. I think Trump is about to be played.
Again, I hope I am wrong. Really. I mean it...............I just don't believe it.

Kim is playing tRump for the political "novice" and negotiating idiot that he is. These are exactly the types of stupid moves that caused tRump to lose ALL of the inheritance that daddy left him.

The minute that tRump walks into a room with Kim, Kim wins!, regardless of what happens next. tRump will be giving Kim the status that he so badly wants.
If Trump walks, Kim looks like the stronger leader. Period.

Are you seriously cheering against the US? Really?

America loves to put it in aka stick it to 'em

yes. you can see the OP is hoping for failure. could you imagine being that vindictive? hoping that an attempt to disarm a nuclear madman fails? That's what Trump has done to these people. They are clueless how screwed they really are. They put party above country then preach to the rest of us about morals and leadership. They are clowns who deserve to remain out of power. They show weakness when they lead, and our enemies can sense it. That will be proven when Trump's strong arm tactics work on the North Koreans. and that is what scares the leftists. to have to give Trump credit would destroy their petty narrative about chaos and incompetence in the White House. This one success would destroy that narrative but good. and these ass hat liberals can't have that.

For the left it's better to live under the threat of a nuclear North Korea than a successful Trump Administration. That's the truth and the liberals know it, but will never say it.

I'm curious what the negotiating tactic will be for the US; I hope it's more than "disarm or else".

No, I most certainly don't know that. That's the narrative as published in USA MSM. I'd rather read the Chinese version. Well, an objective version would be ideal.

Wait a sec. Which of the countries you refer to is the one or are the ones that might want totalitarian government?

Out of the lot, I think that despite NK's secretiveness, it's pretty clear that the citizenry has little in the way of choice. It very likely generally lacks the information required to make a choice in the first place.

I'm actually less up on Cuba. But, I'd bet that the slow moves towards relaxing prior authoritarian controls on property ownership and the so forth are being made to placate the populace.
