The search for truth in the rubble of Douma – and one doctor’s doubts over the chemical attack

Re: Rush to judgement in Syria appears to be wrong.

I seriously doubt it......Still the US response should have targeted Syrian Air Bases...and defense systems...These atrocities have gone on long enough.....The feeble and pathetic response did nothing to deter Assad and the Russian thugs that support him

How about because Syria did not do it?

Trump was pondering pulling out of Syria, and by god a few days later a gas attack occurs, which leads the world to demand the US stay and strike hard. The last time a chemical attack occurred a strike occurred

As Rand Paul stated, Assad has got to the stupidest man alive to have allowed the gas attack, or it was not done by the Syrian government, but a group that wants the US to remain in Syria

Assad and his thugs have committed enough atrocities to warrant action.....Hard to believe this was faked ...by "Crisis actors"....Assad knows with his Russian buddies hanging around the West wouldn't do much.....and he was right

Again why on earth would they gas anyone a few days after Trump said it was time for the US to leave? Why not stick to conventional warfare which would not cause a US reaction, and keep the US in Syria? Especially a gas attack on civilians which would have provided no tactical or strategic benefit to Assad.

The only groups to benefit from the gas attack are those that want the US to stay

No need for crisis actors, the gas attack that occurred when Obama was President was found to be (at least 50%) the responsibility of some of the rebel factions in the country. Had Obama gone in and done the same dumb thing he did in Libya, it would have played into the extremist rebels' hands. Better to investigate before going off half-cocked.

It's mighty odd the Syrian opposition always gasses itself and never Assad's strongholds of Damascus and Latakia.

All your doing is making RT's job easier. And btw, the US military wanted the US to stay because ISIS is not eradicated like Trump would have us believe for political points.

450,000 have died and millions have fled as refugees....President Obama should have acted and pounded Assad and his thugs.....But all Republicans were against any action...and many Democrats in 2013...Now we have this humanitarian fiasco....Which continues as the west stands by and does nothing

Many think the Army of Islam was behind the gas attack -- not Assad.

Thankfully, Russia is pounding the Army of Islam for us and Syria has recaptured Douma from the terrorists.

We need to stay here and not get involved in Syria's war. We need to let Assad put down the insurgency and then, perhaps, Syria can finally get back to business as normal.

It's not really weird -- they're copying Hamas tactics of putting their own people in harm's way and then claiming someone else did it.

Some doctors who've seen patients there, however, tell a different story.

It is not odd the Syrian rebels would gas civilians and not Syrian government civilians. The goal is to get the US to attack the Syrian government, not themselves.

Re: Rush to judgement in Syria appears to be wrong.

People realize it's Syria and Russia preventing the inspections, right?

But 48 hours later the inspectors were prevented from reaching the site, which Syrian and Russian forces have captured from rebels.

The inspectors, who wanted to take samples and interview people, “are currently being prevented from doing so by the regime and the Russians,” Prime Minister Theresa May of Britain said in Parliament.

Russia — which has questioned whether the Douma attack even happened — ridiculed the Western accusation, asserting that the United Nations had exercised its authority to delay the inspectors for security reasons.

Syria and Russia have control of the area. They blame the UN, and security, for not allowing inspections.

Another question, why were kids being just hosed off by adults that were also right there without any protective gear?

They don't have protective gear. They're impoverished and gassed by their own government. When a child is burning from chems, it's not time to worry about getting some on oneself.

Re: Rush to judgement in Syria appears to be wrong.

Lol you have watched too many movies... sanitised? Lol no way. They are still finding stuff from WW1 in Europe after it was sanitised.

Sendt fra min SM-N9005 med Tapatalk

Stuff from WWI wasn't sanitized. Most of it (Mustard, etc.) was merely covered with earth.

You and the western governments are all unable to prove your allegations regarding the April 7 staged event, and in the meantime, the youngster explained how it came to pass that he and other children were manipulated and hosed down by the WH players.

Is your entire worldview based upon such misinformation as that?

Not sure. I'm still waiting to hear about where all of Iraq's WMD are hidden. The right promised us they had WMD.

The Left certainly weren't challenging or disputing it.

Re: Rush to judgement in Syria appears to be wrong.

It is counter productive.

No gas attack the chances of Trump perhaps going ahead with pull out is a possibility.

With a gas attack the chances of the US to pull out goes to zero.

It was not a particularly valuable target to gas, so no real military benefit, but a whole lot of strategic negatives.

So as Rand Paul states, Assad is either an idiot or Syria did not do it. Assad is a doctor, so I don't think he is an idiot

Four years later, he went to London to begin postgraduate training in ophthalmology at the Western Eye Hospital

Assad is a sociopath who has been bombing his own people for years.

Sociopaths are not known for their restraint.

Vicious dictators are also not known for their restraint, but are fond of symbolism--- in this case, shrieking a "**** you" to the United States.

Iraqi Air Force admitted they took them to Syria in exchange for Assad running the ratlines back into Iraq.

And unless you think those Kurds magically gassed themselves, Saddam definitely had WMDs

Was Lincoln a sociopath for the killings of hundreds of thousands of his own people?

Re: Rush to judgement in Syria appears to be wrong.

SO did the Russians also hypnotize the doctor quoted in Fiske's story?

One need not hypnotize anyone to convince them to lie. Especially in Assad's giant killing field known as Syria.

I have never read that the Iraqi air force said they moved them to Syria (recall Syria at the time was far closer to Iran than to Iraq.

No one is saying Iraq never ever had WMD's, just they did not have them at the time of the US invasion

Re: Rush to judgement in Syria appears to be wrong.

You mean hundreds of thousands of troops on the battlefield? I hate to burst your bubble, but there's a big difference between killing troops trying to preserve slavery in regular combat and gassing civilians.

I eagerly await your source as to the hundreds of thousands of southern noncombatants the North supposedly killed.....oh wait.

That didn't happen. Former Confederates were even allowed back in positions of power.

Because there is no parallel, try as you might, between Lincoln and Assad.
