President Trump on Friday announced that he has approved military strikes in Syria against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The announcement follows a suspected chemical gas attack from the Assad regime on a rebel-held town near the Syrian capital last weekend.

A person I wouldn't trust to give me the correct time is making life-and-death military decisions in a foreign country that is host to a nuclear-armed geopolitical foe. A geo-political foe's relations he and everybody around him has lied about 100% of the time. This is so surreal.

Punish the Russian government, not kill a bunch of soldiers who had nothing to do with the actions or decisions.

And definitely not to satisfy the ego of a reality TV star.

Sorry to let in on it, but Mattis was not on board. He was pushing for a more limited action. Trump wanted shock and awe.
Not that I am totally against this. I have wanted to put a cruise missile up Assad's ass for a while. Or, at the least, make the Alawite population feel some of the pain that the Sunnis have been subjected to. I just don't trust the judgement of the current CIC to execute properly. I am somewhat comforted by the addition of hte UK and France to the fray. But we shall see.
A part of me thinks he is just doing the regular trump distraction of, "look over here"! Only it involves tons of money and countless lives.
Oh yeah. He should immediately call to rescind the tax cut legislation to pay for the new war.
