Trump Tower fire:[W:30]******************

Re: Trump Tower fire:

Welp. Glad they put it out and nobody was hurt.

Edit: whoops, one person actually was seriously hurt.

i think one person died but heay, even Syrians get killed now & then ...........

Re: Trump Tower fire:

But that's what I'm talking about. What the hell is going-on that NYC is bowing to developers by allowing the buildings to not have sprinklers in the first place, and now not retrofitting them? My city required them as long as I can remember.

And it has been shown earlier in the thread that Trump fought against installing the very devices that may have saved his tenet's life. Now we may have the result of Trump's fight, that being a fatality.

Call me when you decide to go after the 1000s, if not 10s of 1000s of property/building owners that aren't required to update their buildings with the latest in fire suppression systems, and haven't.

Re: Trump Tower fire:

Then why didn't he install them then?

He successfully campaigned to have the law saw they didn't have to be retrofitted until a major renovation of the building was done.

My city did. I want to know what's the problem with NYC? And how did it happen?

And it looks like Trump lobbied and bet on the wrong side ...

I doesn't matter how long as you remember when the building was built before they were required.
A lot of buildings in NYC along with other cities were grandfathered in because the expense to retrofit them
was too costly.

It wasn't just trump it was a lot of developers that probably fought against it.
also the commercial area's of the building do as they probably underwent heavy reconstruction
and probably had to have them put in.

as long as you can remember is irrelevant. read the article. The building was built when they were not required.
later it was passed and these buildings were grandfathered in.

It wasn't just trump that fought it there were probably a lot of developers that did. the cost to go back and retrofit all those buildings would have put them out of business.
so they grandfathered them in with exceptions that any major construction would have to include the new building codes.

evidently the commercial sides of the building have indeed put them in as they reconstructed the business spaces.
the residential spaces probably not so much.

he didn't successfully campaign to do anything. it was already in the law. you need some facts.
