Trump threatens further $100bn in tariffs against China - BBC News

In response to Mr Trump's latest announcement, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said: "China and the US as two world powers should treat each other on a basis of equality and with respect.
"By waving a big stick of trade sanctions against China, the US has picked a wrong target."
Ministry of Commerce Spokesman Gao Feng said: "We do not want to fight, but we are not afraid to fight a trade war."

And the trade war continues to escalate.

Do you or anyone know of a site or have a link that would show the current tariffs on China and the U.S.? I couldn't find anything, and I'd like to know the comparison.

A trade war is not good, but fair trade is.

I don't personally have that.

US is not working toward fair trade right now, this is all about Trump's ego.

I agree.

Thanks anyway, I'll keep looking.

Meryl Streep is an overrated has been!
Khzr Khan needs to shut his mouth!
Morning Joe and Mika get low ratings!
Mika was bleeding out of her face!
James Comey better hope there aren't any tapes!

The Trump motto, pettiness in tweets and pettiness in policy.

China doesn't treat anyone with respect or equality.

they devalue their currency and their economy on their own whims.
Our trade imbalance with them is 375b dollars.

it is one of the largest in the world.

They steal companies IP and then copy it and sell it on secondary markets.
Amazon is getting into major trouble with people buy selling chinese knock offs.
company whose IP they have stolen have little recourse in the matter.

I'd be interested in knowing what China does against the US to protect its own trade interests. Historically, it seems that every so often reciprocal tariffs go back and forth. However, there are some lopsided tariffs and policies that aren't being fully described to us.

I'm a big Ben Sasse fan. Thus far he's the only Republican to call Trump out for his idiocy.

“Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam again but, if he's even half-serious, this is nuts. China is guilty of many things, but the President has no actual plan to win right now. He’s threatening to light American agriculture on fire. Let’s absolutely take on Chinese bad behavior, but with a plan that punishes them instead of us. This is the dumbest possible way to do this,"

I agree with the idea that the US needs to do something with China, and I don't know what, but I know this isn't it.

Well, I found a coupe of examples:

The Trade War Spirals, As China Imposes Massive 105.4% Tariff On American Poultry (Sep. 27, 2010)....China's commerce ministry announced on its Web site that it would impose import tariffs on American poultry of up to 105.4 percent...According to the report, the investigation into poultry dumping was started a year ago, after Obama introduced a tariff on Chinese tire imports.

Tear Down This Wall -- the Chinese Tariff Wall (July 12, 2012)..The automobile industry in China is still heavily protected behind a “tariff wall” even though this wall has come down significantly since China’s entry into the WTO. Cars imported to China face a tariff duty of at least 25 percent. In comparison, American duties on cars imported into the US are only 5 percent.

There is a WTO website I just found which might be a source of research: https://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/countries_e/china_e.htm

The market opens in 45 minutes. Will Kudlow come out and try to save it again?

the ~60 million people that voted for Trump, Trump's base, and those still supporting Trump don't really care about the fact that Trump has no plan; Trump has never had a plan. Trump has always relied on a 'backup' to support his failures, namely utilizing an endless supply of attorneys & utilizing the bankruptcy laws.
These people that voted for & that support Trump likely never understood that Trump is a fraud, and that Trump will NEVER be anything other than a fraud.

Trump has NO PLAN; Trump is making **** up as he goes along. The sad fact is, Trump & America will have no 'backup' plan, because there is no backup plan.
Trump rules by chaos; he does not rule with any real plan of action.
When the **** hits the fan after all of Trump's policies FAIL, because they are HIS policies, and no one else owns them, America won't have a bankruptcy, or an endless supply of attorneys for a backup.

CHAOS; that is ALL Trump has & nothing else. That is the same thing that Hitler relied on, chaos.

Good luck wit dat .......

A trade war where the combatants have announced the first shots, but haven't actually shot anything yet.

We'll see what happens should any tariffs actually get implemented. Ironically, these tariffs when implemented will generate federal revenues.
