Officers Shoot, Kill Man Who Pointed Pipe at Them in Brooklyn: NYPD

No one knew it was a pipe until after. This really looked like a gun.

The ol' shoot first and find out later defense?

Hey Bodhi. Slow news day. Bored? Get off your ass and go do something productive. I got my list done for the day. Finished the roof and the trim on the new shed. Now I can sit inside for the next three days and feed the wood stove.

Hey bud... I did my productive stuff a couple days ago... soccer trainings, work and organizing the house. Took today off and have the rest of the weekend to do nothing but surf and post.

No one deserves to be gunned down over a piece of pipe. In the future we should raise the age to buy pipe to over 21, require universal background checks on all pipe purchases, require a mental screening to get a permit to purchse pipe, limit the legal length of pipe one can carry to prevent this from happening again. With a few common sence pipe control measures we can save lives.

Or people could stop being dumb asses and stop pointing pieces of pipes at people acting like they are guns

Or cops can wait and find out if there is an actual threat before they start killing innocent unarmed people...

I agree, it's still too little to shoot on but a much better case than many of the ones I've seen before. If I'm holding a gun and someone points what looks exactly like a pistol, I'm not waiting for confirmation.

More out of control cops... a shame this is acceptable

Good thing you don't get to decide these things. We'd have no one wanting to be cops.

Yes. Much better to attract the trigger happy cowards that kill innocent unarmed people. Great standard. Good for you.

What's your real agenda? You don't think cops have the right to defend themselves against guys lunging at them or the public with guns or pipes that look like guns in their hand? That's it, isn't it?

Or, I know it's complicated, the dumbass could not of been walking around threatening people with a piece of pipe like it was a gun. The fool is not innocent. He threatened people and police. The community is safer without his presence. He died because of his own stupidity.

Well congrats, you got the negative comments you were looking for. Obvious you are a cop hater with no logic behind your words. If someone came up behind you and stuck a pipe in your back and asked for all your money, you would not be asking if that was a real gun or not, hard to tell what would be first, you grapping your wallet or you crapping in your nickers.

The officers from the neighborhood didn't answer the calls.

I guess that makes it okay, then. Cops probably just have to assume that because of the lax gun laws that everyone is carrying a gun. So what are we supposed to glean from this...that a gun or anything that even remotely looks like a gun (cellphone, stick, pipe, etc.) can get a person killed by the police? That sure doesn't sound like freedom to me.

No, what you should glean from this is if you run around pointing, what looks like a gun, at people on the street, then point it at the police in a shooting stance, you will get shot. Freedom doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want. There are consequences.

Nor should they, and they didn't.

nope it still should of been avoided.

Not everyone but it is fair to assume after three separate calls about a man with a gun that there is an increased chance of a gun.

If you are acting like It's a gun or threatening people one should take away from this that that kind of behavior increase the chance of deadly force used against them.

Hold on threatening people is your idea if freedom? Donald is that you?

It amazes me how people protest even though it clearly was a justifies shooting. Why the outrage when the victim took a shooting stance and pointed what looked like a gun at a cop? If they would save the outrage and protests for truly innocent people, it will make people pay more attention.

Unless something comes out later that will even hint at being a sufficient reason to change my mind. this looks like a deliberately engineered situation wherein the police were justified in shooting.

And the first person who says that the police should have "shot to wound" is going to convince me right after they post a video of them shooting the gun out of a running person's hand while running themselves on TWO separate occasions.
