No one knew it was a pipe until after. This really looked like a gun.
Hey Bodhi. Slow news day. Bored? Get off your ass and go do something productive. I got my list done for the day. Finished the roof and the trim on the new shed. Now I can sit inside for the next three days and feed the wood stove.
No one deserves to be gunned down over a piece of pipe. In the future we should raise the age to buy pipe to over 21, require universal background checks on all pipe purchases, require a mental screening to get a permit to purchse pipe, limit the legal length of pipe one can carry to prevent this from happening again. With a few common sence pipe control measures we can save lives.
Or people could stop being dumb asses and stop pointing pieces of pipes at people acting like they are guns
The ol' shoot first and find out later defense?
Sounds like suicide by cop.
There was a similar case like this in the San Diego area not too long ago.

More out of control cops... a shame this is acceptable
Good thing you don't get to decide these things. We'd have no one wanting to be cops.
Yes. Much better to attract the trigger happy cowards that kill innocent unarmed people. Great standard. Good for you.
Or cops can wait and find out if there is an actual threat before they start killing innocent unarmed people...

The officers from the neighborhood didn't answer the calls.
I guess that makes it okay, then. Cops probably just have to assume that because of the lax gun laws that everyone is carrying a gun. So what are we supposed to glean from this...that a gun or anything that even remotely looks like a gun (cellphone, stick, pipe, etc.) can get a person killed by the police? That sure doesn't sound like freedom to me.
I agree, it's still too little to shoot on but a much better case than many of the ones I've seen before. If I'm holding a gun and someone points what looks exactly like a pistol, I'm not waiting for confirmation.
nope it still should of been avoided.I guess that makes it okay, then.
Not everyone but it is fair to assume after three separate calls about a man with a gun that there is an increased chance of a gun.Cops probably just have to assume that because of the lax gun laws that everyone is carrying a gun.
If you are acting like It's a gun or threatening people one should take away from this that that kind of behavior increase the chance of deadly force used against them.So what are we supposed to glean from this...that a gun or anything that even remotely looks like a gun (cellphone, stick, pipe, etc.) can get a person killed by the police?

With that as the criteria you are justifying a cop to shoot every time they go on any call...
Pretty poor reading comprehension.
It amazes me how people protest even though it clearly was a justifies shooting. Why the outrage when the victim took a shooting stance and pointed what looked like a gun at a cop? If they would save the outrage and protests for truly innocent people, it will make people pay more attention.
