WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Sunday said on Twitter that there will not be a deal on legalizing the status on young adult immigrants known as Dreamers, declaring that the U.S.-Mexico border is becoming more dangerous.
=====================================================
I think this is payback for not getting funding for his Great Wall of Trump.

Nah, his boss set the agenda. Not his fault.

Trump may have been reacting Sunday to commentary on Fox News Channel, which he is known to watch regularly. Fox aired a segment earlier in the morning with the headline: “CARAVAN OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS HEADED TO U.S.”

Trump sent his tweet on the fourth day of his vacation in Palm Beach, Fla., where he has been staying at his private Mar-a-Lago Club with a small coterie of aides. White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly did not travel with him, but senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, a proponent of hard-line immigration policies, has been spending the Easter weekend with Trump.

The only reason "may have been" is used is because there wasn't a WaPo reporter sitting in his bedroom this morning. For a while Fox backed whatever Trump said (way back during the campaign), but it's the other way around lately. Fox says something, Trump starts tweeting, tweets become policy.

He also demanded the end of the filibuster, which is a nonstarter. Even in a pro-Republican environment McConnell didn't want the end of the filibuster, and in a political environment in which Democrats are sweeping special elections, if there's even the slightest chance that Democrats retake the Senate...however remote that may be...McConnell's definitely not going to want to lose the filibuster.

What Trump says (always subject to change with no notice) is not important - he just signed a CR that increased the deficit and excluded funding for the Great Wall of Trump. The bottom line is that congress likes lax immigration law enforcement and will never allow funding for any mass deportation regardless of DACA/DAPA policy. Rank and file republicants would suffer greatly if Trump started deporting "dreamers" (all of whom are "good people") and even Trump knows that. The demorats (like the republicants) have absolutely no intention of having effective immigration law enforcement - when was the last time you heard a push for mandatory eVerify or getting rid of ITINs for illegal immigrants?

Congress has had over six months to deal with DACA. They didn't. Time to start deporting.

Anyone have complaints? Go see Congress.

The democrats were the ones that didn’t want to give dreamers amnesty, Trump made an offer so stop blaming Trump!

That is gas lighting on such a scale that it could reasonably be called an art project. Trump ended DACA unilaterally.

On easter Sunday this is what our dear Christian leader decides to tweet. Can we please just fast forward to the impeachment? This man is an embarrassment to humanity.

At least Trump used “ around “caravans.”

Why did you put good people in air quotes?

Given the man's incessant flip-flops about DACA, one wonders if a deal was ever "on."

Do you suppose that he knows he ended it?

Where is Schumer? Where is Pelosi? They have gone absent in regards to DACA since they tried their "all or nothing" strategy for the spending bill. SCOTUS will probably release their ruling on DACA in June. Once that happens all bets are off. June is coming fast. Trump offered to more than double the numbers of dreamers that Democrats were asking for. Democrats said "not unless we get everything we want". The optics will suck for Democrats when this "caravan" shows up on the border. Democrats will try to use this as a political podium. They can't help it. They should ignore it or call for tighter border security but that would put them on the same side as Trump, which they would avoid at all costs. It will look like the Democrats want open borders, which isn't what the public wants. The public wants amnesty for dreamers and tightened border security. I think he is trying to pressure Schumer and Pelosi to come back to the table. I don't think they will. Pelosi is bat crap crazy and Schumer is still licking his wounds from the shut down.

He's always been anti-immigrant underneath. Now he's shown it in the latest unhinged twitter-rant.

Where was Schumer and Pelosi when Trump unilaterally ended DACA? Were they in the room or were they somewhere else?

Because Trump uses that term often when referring to illegal immigrants who otherwise have no criminal records, especially those that qualify for DACA waivers. Sometimes Trump also uses "good hombres" or "bad hombres" but that tends to get more negative press since it specifically addresses Hispanics.

Okay, so you weren't putting "good people" in air quotes because you were implying that they were not.

We have complaints..... its with our inept president who lacks ANY ability to lead on just about any issue, especially this one.

Congress has come up with DACA deals and the president changes is mind on a moments notice. Good leadership demands clear and coherent goals and policy. That ain't this president. He doesn't know the first thing about leadership (as is reflected in his poll numbers and the number of people that believe he is unfit for office: inept --- that number is 57% of voters)

Sorry, the President, with his ability to veto, has all the power in making a deal. Its entirely his fault there is no deal.

Anyone have complaints? The blame goes where most of the blame should go in Washington right now, on the buffoon the lives at 1600 Pennsylvania.

Complaints to Congress will be registered during mid-term elections.

There is nothing Christian about him.....and, those Christians that support him ----- well, they should be spending a little more time on their knees humbling themselves to God while seeking forgiveness for going astray. (For full clarity here, I am ok with a Christian supporting Trump IF they were calling him out on his egregious sins rather than being complicit in his ways.)

Any deal on a law consists of offer...counter offer...until agreement is reached. But any deal on a law STARTS with Congress. If Congress wants a law, it's up to THEM to deal.

This is on Congress.

Where was Schumer and Pelosi when Trump unilaterally ended DACA? Were they in the room or were they somewhere else?

They left the room. Where have they been since? They were complicit in the ending of DACA talks. It was a negotiation. They failed. Trump compromised. Trump offered to more than double the amount of dreamers given amnesty that Obama, Schumer and Pelosi wanted. They refused to compromise. Since then it doesn't seem that they want to come back and negotiate anymore. It isn't on him to give them everything they want. Now he has the leverage and he knows it. He still called for talks on DACA. If Schumer or Pelosi come back to the table he will claim "victory" in forcing them to come back. If they don't he claims that they had the chance to talk and they didn't. Schumer and Pelosi are between a rock and a hard place. I bet Schumer wished Reid had never retired.

Oh, they were complicit, were they? When Trump ended Daca, did he first look to Pelosi and Schumer, and did they nod silently in approval before he signed the order? If so, can you link to the source for this belief?
