(CNN)In the days and weeks following the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the National Rifle Association saw a significant spike in donations. In fact, reports from the Federal Election Commission show donations to the NRA's Political Victory Fund tripled from January to February.
In January, the NRA collected almost $248,000 in individual contributions. In February, they collected more than $779,000.
It's no secret that interest in guns and gun sales -- as evidenced by anecdotes and manufacturing numbers -- have until recently gotten boosts from mass shootings. So it would stand to reason that donations to the NRA would get a bump as well.
The NRA would like to thank David Hogg. I think he's been more of a boon than Trump.

I would like to thank you and the NRA for proving how irrational your fears are.

You should be mad at that little weasel of yours [Hogg].

The Venn diagram of people who advocated for literal Nazis getting a platform on college campuses under the guise of free speech and the people now calling the Parkland survivors "brownshirts" is a single overlapping circle.

Why? If the NRA would like to waste their money pissing into the wind they are welcome to. All this demonstrates is that Hogg has them scared as hell. Despite Republican control of the house, senate, and white house you're still terrified that if don't defend your guns they're all going away.

In the end assault, style weapons will be banned in this country. It's not a question of if, but when. The NRA can spend all the money they like, but it will be their unwillingness to bend that breaks them.

More money is obviously raised by both sides of the argument when it's a hot subject. That's largely irrelevant. What the American people see are children who are fed up with having to get to school in fear of being shot, and adults who aren't willing to do anything about it. If you think money matters the fact that so many sponsors are pulling their ads from Fox News as a result of what Laura Ingram said. These companies recognize that being associated with Fox and the NRA is bad for business because more and more Americans hate these groups every day.

Progress comes in waves. You take two steps forward, and then you usually take one step back. Obama was two steps forward, Trump was a step back, but Trump and the NRA are telling that those who fear change are scared and desperate to stop what we all know is coming. The next wave is going to be really bad for you. You can't fight the future, my friend. I suggest you learn how to adapt sooner rather than later.

So if we like the 2A that makes us a Nazi, kinda sounds like hate

Hogg has them scared. More like they're just giving the little weasel the finger.

Have they?

Yes, it's in your own OP. School shootings have led to triple donations for the NRA. See the title of the thread that you started.

So as I said, school shootings have been very good for the NRA.

I had to really understand this kid.

1) The NRA stated they have 5 Million Members. This makes up what now? of the country of 330 million. .015% of the power of the country.
2) NRA Owns the politicians I ask how is that possible, If they only make up .015% of the population, The PEOPLE vote for the politicians, there really is NO Major influential power, UNLESS the WILL of the people exceeds the 2/3 vote
3) The will of the people have spoken more times than not, Obama had 2/3 house from 2009-2014 Majority and NEVER passed a single Firearms Control bill period.
4) The state this kid lives in has lax firearms controls in place to begin with. WHY does he need to rally if he cant even fix his own country/state. It like his !$@$ Doesnt stink...

Propaganda, and a great way to really piss off people... I do thank this little !@#$ because he is ralling many Pro 2A people and more conservatives to realize. How sick we are to use children as our defense with NO actual validity.

assault weapons are already banned in this country for anything past 1986.
in order to obtain a pre-1986 one there is a tax, and a hefty background check that
is required.

PLease educate yourself on what is or is not an assault weapon.

an AR15 is not n assault weapon. it is a semi-automatic rifle no different than any other semi-automatic rifle.
we know loss of freedom comes in waves which is why we fight for our rights now not later after they have been taken away.

Cardinal, Im going to have to respectfully state this... School Shootings are in NO ONES best interest PERIOD, for people to say its good for the NRA or "X" politician is just disgusting and sad (of course me personal opinion)

The EXPOSURE is good YES, But the school shooting is HORRIBLE for everyone. Any time a life is lost be it 17 or 1 it is terrible. But to go around and say schools shootings have been good for the NRA......common... is that really needed?

Indeed. Glenn Haab and so far as I can tell all of the right wing media manipulated Colton Haab into lying to the American people repeatedly about the CNN gun control town hall meeting.

The problem is they no longer educate kids in school about the constitution or rights held within it.

I dunno, do ALL people who like the 2A call the Parkland survivors "brownshirts"?
I own guns, I support the 2A but I also support the efforts of the Parkland survivors to enact meaningful regulations.
Nice attempt at deflection, too bad it fails. And if you're one of the people calling the Parkland kids "brownshirts", the hate tag goes on you.

YUPS THAT WAS STUPID, extremely idiotic and back fired, they are DUMB@SSes for that... They retracted and Colton has disappeared into oblivion.

Horrible for everyone...except for the NRA which saw triple donations.

Nobody who propagated the lie apologized for it, just as nobody who propagated the "crisis actor" memes apologized, just as nobody who's creating Hogg as Hitler Youth memes are apologizing, just Ingraham isn't apologizing for laughing at a shooting survivor for not getting into the first colleges of his choice. And now we have a thread in which the OP is boasting that the NRA is receiving triple the number of donations in the aftermath of a school shooting in which seventeen kids were murdered.

The people who are screaming the loudest about the treatment of children are consistently being the worst human beings in how they are treating children.

Actually Its MUCH worse..... To me I concede the we cannot fairly teach all Amendments in its context in school \

BUT, I have "sorta" Figured it out. Its been popping up in my News Feed.

There is a common element to many and I mean MANY of these shootings. Emotions. Many of the shooters acted upon emotions that triggered their rage. I thought about it for a second. I have anger I have rage. but what stops me from either acting upon it or using my firearm as the release?

What is missing from current society that causes people to LOSE control of their emotion, Thus acting up it in rage and committing crimes be it individual crimes, or mass crimes.

It got me really thinking about how we educate, teach and treat our children. Lets face it, the last 3 school mass shootings, Sandyhook, VTech, Florida, had to do with young adults that had pent up rage and released it in a disgusting manner.

We as adults, and parents need to address our OWN personal Rage and see how it affects our children, Then address the emotions that they face and how they intend to deal with it. this to me is starting to show more and more, children acting out. Bullying in school, Cyber bullying. The Lack of parenting, lack of old school spanking etc.

We cannot stop ALL tragedies, But it seems that many common elements is the loss of control of emotions....

So did the shooting do it, or the anti-NRA chanting that went on after?

The constant show of apathy and false bystander position as they fill the pockets of Senators to deny responsibility is to blame.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an NRA that actually cared about the Second Amendment instead of gun sales? It's amazing how they care about a person's "right to keep and bear arms" when one is 18 (purchasing age), but is silent about the "right to keep and bear arms" when it comes to getting a carry permit in states across the country. And notice how the NRA makes statements about arming teachers...but not denying the mentally-ill their weapons? Conclusion? They care not beyond the person's ability to swipe a credit card. It's not about bearing. It's about buying.

Stop pretending that they are the civil rights organization of their origin. The NRA is a proven economic/political group first...your rights a distant second. And this is why people are waking up to the reality lately and blaming the NRA for failing its own expressed mission statement. They don't get to buy politicians (the inconvenient swamp folk) and then pretend that they have no responsibility to where we are heading simply because they give a gun safety lesson.

It sounds like school shootings have been very good for the NRA.

Have they? Name the NRA member that's carried out a school shooting?

I heard the WHOOSH! all the way over here.

Your thread celebrates the fact that the NRA got a ton more donations after the kids were shot. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out Cardinal's comment on your thread given what your thread says.
