PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump will not be adding two new lawyers to the legal team defending him in the special counsel’s Russia investigation, one of the president’s attorneys said Sunday.


Trump attorney Jay Sekulow said in a statement that Washington lawyers Joseph diGenova and Victoria Toensing have conflicts that won’t allow them to represent the president regarding special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.


The announcement came just hours after Trump used Twitter to push back against reports that he’s having difficulty adding to his legal team, saying he was “very happy” with his current attorneys.

Of course there is no possibility that something that they may have learned through representing other people in the "Mueller Investigation" might have made it slightly difficult for them to accept the instructions which "Team Trump" indicated would be forthcoming - right?

yeah, they were parleyed as joining Trumps legal team which looks like aint gonna happen.

I heard Trump was also planning to have a meeting with some guy over there in NoKo; aint gonna happen ................

Hoo-boy.
At least a few supporters of Donald "The John" Trump were overjoyed that these two "top lawyers" were coming on board.
Maybe they wanted to be paid up front---DJT allegedly stiffs lawyers--- or maybe....just maybe...they figured out DJT was actually guilty.
 
Trump has one lawyer representing him. One. He's the President of the United States, is supposedly extremely rich, and he can't get anybody from any respected law firms to represent him.

That is extraordinary.

Mr. Yoo most certainly has egg on his face after his editorial a couple of days ago.

PS - Even FOX News is running "comment" articles telling Mr. Trump that he should "cooperate" with Mr. Mueller. Since that's the case, and since Mr. Trump has said that he is willing to "cooperate" with Mr. Mueller, one does wonder what the lawyer's preliminary impression of what would happen to Mr. Trump (and their own reputations) if he did "cooperate" with Mr. Mueller.

Consider the client, add in the tantrums, failure to listen to sound legal advice, and then throw in possible harm to reputation.
Kerist they could not even get this right - clear they had legal conflicts with other clients they represent.

I mansplained to my wife just this morning why he can't get any lawyers after she said the reason is because he's dirty as hell. "Lawyers represent dirtbags. It's in the job description. However, there's just two commandments you have to follow if you want representation: do what the lawyer tells you to do, and shut the **** up if he tells you to shut the **** up." If you can follow just those two little rules and you have the money, you can get anybody you want to represent you.

At this point, I would not be surprised if trump decided that he would represent himself as his own lawyer.

No one in their right mind would want to represent Trump at this point. What's stunning is even ones not in their right mind don't seem to want represent him. Agree with you it is extraordinary.

True to a point- IIRC this lawyer twice refused to work for Trump. I think he should have a Public Defender.

He said lawyers are fighting to represent him, and then went on to say that they're hungry for the fame and money. Yes, I'm sure in addition to him already being a nightmare client, lawyers are beating down the door to represent somebody who just called all lawyers greedy attention whores.
 
So they site conflicts...eh ok, I'm sure they'll find another...oh btw, not to throw cold water on y'alls bash fest but "conflicts" could be anything....ethically I would think you people would at least acknowledge that....

I called my buddy, who runs "David's Snarky Politics Place" on Facebook (an openly liberal group by their own admission) and we "laughed, hooted, scratched and farted" out loud about it for about ten minutes.

Now a quick heads up, from Snarky...
He's predicting, as are several TV mavens, that we are about one hour away from something monstrous. Snark says Flynn will be pardoned, or Trump will make some kind of a move to facilitate Mueller's firing, possibly a la firing Rosenstein (?) or Sessions and then doing the move as a secondary shot in a Sunday Night Massacre.

He hasn't posted it yet but that's what we talked about after snorting and chuckling about DiGenova.

The conflict is that his wife is presenting Mark Corallo, the spokesperson for Trump's legal team in 2017 and who is now a witness for the Mueller investigation.
