Yay, the bombers dead...what a relief. Austin can sleep tonight.

Per the news, sounds like witness reports that the suspects silver jeep/suv was forced off the road by two white passenger vans while multiple helicopters flying overhead.

It appears he may have detonated a device and killed himself.

The bombings may end, but the questions are just getting started.

Kudos to the law enforcement for zeroing in on this guy. Great job.

Suspect in Austin bombing attacks blows himself up

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) -- The suspect in a spate of bombing attacks that have terrorized Austin over the past month blew himself up with an explosive device as authorities closed in, the police said early Wednesday.

Authorities had zeroed in on the suspect in the last 24 to 36 hours and located his vehicle at a hotel on Interstate 35 in the Austin suburb of Round Rock, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said at a news conference. They were waiting for ballistic vehicles to arrive to move in for an arrest when his vehicle began to drive away, Manley said. Authorities followed the vehicle, which ran into a ditch on the side of the road, the police chief said.

When members of the SWAT team approached, the suspect detonated an explosive device inside the vehicle, the police chief said. The blast knocked back one officer, while a second officer fired his weapon, Manley said.

The suspect, who suffered significant injuries from the blast, was killed. Authorities identified him only as a 24-year-old white man and wouldn't say if he was from Austin.

Nope... not yet they can't.

New Austin incident not related to serial bombings, police say

Law enforcement officials said an incident involving an artillery simulator that went off in Austin, Texas, Tuesday evening is not related to a series of recent bombings.

The string of explosions in Austin, which have left two dead and injured others, has the city on edge and sparked hundreds of law enforcement to descend on the area. Earlier on Tuesday, a package detonated at a FedEx facility near San Antonio, injuring one.

Reports of a package explosion at a Goodwill store on Brodie Lane Tuesday night initially sparked panic, but police later said the incident involved an artillery simulator and was not connected to the so-called serial bomber terrorizing the area.

It will be very interesting to find out who he was, where he hung out, who his friends were, what his internet history was, etc.

Major props to the law enforcement and the FBI for stopping this bastard before he had a chance to kill more people.

Looks like a gunrack bubba Johnny Winters look a like. The cap and long hair is so stereotypical of the low I.Q. redneck gun toting confederate loving diots I have run across in the south.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they got him. These kind of random attacks are very scary.

I know. I have to hand it to the FBI and the local police. A station in Austin reported a few minutes ago that the FBI agents and police traced the bomber using mobile phone technology, CCTV and shop receipts.

That video clip of him with that whitish hair is scary. Looks like an extremely creepy character.

Nobody knows at this point where he was headed in his car but highly likely that bomb was enroute to the next victim.

Talk about in the nick of time.

Hats off, seriously to FBI, Austin Police and all other LEO agencies that found him so relatively quickly and glad only the asshole himself was the only one killed during his cowardly last stand.

I hope we do find out why he felt the need to take so many lives so senselessly.

Roast in hell.

Dirtbag.

Yes, do show us all the multitude of ANTIFA people with Mullet looking hair :lamo

It was all because the second FedEx package didn't detonate.

Then it went from surveillance video at the FedEx store, to a suspect, then warrants for internet history from his ISP & cell phone triangulation.

Edit: They are now saying that he was looking up specific addresses in the Austin area. That doesn't sound like random targets.
